My Moon

You were my moon that lit up my night

you always listened and put up no fight

I thought I was helping when you began to take shape

But one night you did not return and my mouth fell agape

As I stood in sadness that you'd left I realized you never planned to stay

when I dared to look the skies were always bound to grey

Without you I lost the galaxies that hid in my eyes

I still hoped and prayed every night that you'd rise

But I guess you never missed me and you never came back

And in you absence the night stayed black
