Chapter 10-Disapointment
Camille's P.O.V.
*Beep* *Beep* *Beep*
What the heck is that annoying noise? I bet its my stupid alarm clock. Why were alarm clocks invented? They are painfully loud and annoying, but so are most people so...yeah. Uh I guess I have to get up now.
Suddenly a cold chill runs through my right arm.
I instantly open my eyes to see a blinding light, "Hey, hey calm down." I realize the beeping is my heart monitor and it is going insane. The person holding my arm turns out to be a dude in scrubs. I look around the room to see an empty chair in the corner and I'm in a hospital gown. The dude slowly lets go of my arm as my heart rate slows back to its normal pace.
"Hello Camille," he says in a deep masculine voice. I just raise an eyebrow, "Um hello. Who are you again?" He chuckles to reveal pure white teeth, dang fancy dude.
"I'm Dr. James, but you can call me Jason." He pulls out a rolly stool from under a counter and sits beside me with a clipboard. I nod in understanding and we just stare for a while until I break the silence, "So...Jason, right?" He nods and smiles, "Yes mam." I look around and sigh, "Why the hell am I here? I mean where are all the Desideritos?" "Desideritos?" "Yeah, my soon to be father-in-law and all of his sons."
Jason just looked at me with pity and shook his head, "Camille. I'm afraid you bumped your head. You've been out for a couple days and I think you are hallucinating. It is completely natural and normal. When someone goes through so much trauma, their brain will do incredible things to erase that memory."
I sit up straighter, "What do you mean hallucinations? I'm not crazy! They are real! All of them!"
He grabbed my hand, "You are hear at someone's house. This is his own personal hospital for him and his men. He found you in an alley beaten, bruised, branded, bleeding, and almost on your deathbed. It has been two weeks. And the worst part is that your foster parent's home is on the other side of the country." I was silent and I could feel tears starting to come to my eyes. I hated to cry but I know I was there, "The Desideritos are real people! I was there! I met all of the sons! How come I know so much about them if they aren't real?"
Jason looked at his clip board and rubbed his face with his hand, "Well, real can be seen in two ways here. There is a possibility that you have actually met or seen these people. For instance, at school, at a store, or a park. You know what they look like correct?"
I nodded my head, "Yes, I do."
He nodded, "Yes, exactly what I was thinking. You have seen each of them before. However, you have never actually talked to them. Research has just proved that the human brain can not make up faces. So, if you say you have seen them before, you probably have seen them before. And, since you have been unconscious for about two weeks and you were almost on your deathbed, you most likely saw all of your memories again. Since you had an abusive life, these people were safe in your mind, so you focused on them, but you never actually met them. So as your brain is looking into these people, you start to make up things in your mind about each person, like a story. And the final conclusion is a very detailed story, like a memory. However, it is all a hallucination even if you have actually seen the people before."
You know that feeling where your heart drops and you feel like you can't breath. Well now you know what I feel now. It was like a punch to the heart to hear that all the good people in your life are a hallucination because your life is so shitty your brain screws with you to make it seem better. On the bright side, if I did die, at least I would have died content.
