I sat in a hard plastic chair in the school orchestra room. Chairs were scattered throughout the room with kids scattered around talking and laughing. I rubbed my arms as a slight chill passed over me. The orchestra room is one of the few air conditioned rooms in the school and it sometimes got a little chilly.
"What do you think of Bengal cats?" I asked my friend Noelle, who was sitting next to me. I'm usually a quiet person, but my thoughts tend to wander. Currently I was thinking about how adorable Bengal cats are and the best way to persuade my mom to let me get one.
"I don't know, that was a little random ." Noelle replied. I shrugged and played with the ends of my waves red hair. My friends have grown to expect to crazy trains of though. I twirled a pencil around my fingers, while my eyes were fixated on the clock. The red hand moved agonizingly slowly, inching its way to 3:00.
Finally the clock's hand reached 3:00 and a obnoxiously loud bell rang, announcing the end of the last day of school.
"Finally," I said, grabbing my stuff and heading for the door.
" I know," Noelle said, walking next to me. " I though 9th period was never going to end."
"Let's go say goodbye to Jason." I said, walking over to him.
Jason was like a big brother to us, he had study hall 9th period so he always came over to the orchestra room, just to hang out. Jason was practically a cello playing prodigy. Ms. Ciambrone is always pretty cool about letting him stay.
" I'm going to miss you all so much next year." Jason said, giving Noelle, then me, a goodbye hug. " I hope I have study hall last period again."
"Yeah, that would be cool." I replied with a smile.
"See you next year!" Noelle and I said as we left the room.

"Bye Mom, Bye Dad!" I called from the doorway to my garage. My parents smiled and waved back as they pulled out of the driveway.
"Bye Rowan!" They called back.
My parents were visiting my Dad's parents an for the first time ever, since it was just the beginning of summer vacation, I was allowed to stay home alone for the week.
I heard my phone ring and picked up my iPhone in its dark blue case, checking the caller ID.
"Hey Noelle!" I said, answering the phone. "My parents are going to be away for the week, so I have the house to myself if you want to do anything."
"Awesome! I wish my parents would leave me home alone. They think I mess up the whole house or something like my brother did. I can't believe him, he ruins everything. You're lucky that you're an only child. You'll never guess what the did today."
I inwardly sighed, readying myself for yet another story of just how annoying her older brother Luke is.
"Okay, what did he do this time?"
"He literally put baby powder in my hair dryer. Like, what is he, five years old? Then i had to take another shower, just to get the baby powder out of my hair. I hate him sooooo much. And he's always going off to these secret like club meetings or something every day. He won't even tell anybody where exactly he's going, weirdo."
"That sucks. At least, before you know it, he'll be off at college and it will be like you're an only child too."
"Yeah, you're right. Anyways, I have to go, bye Rowan!"
"Bye Noelle!"
I shifted my weight on the brown leather couch I was sitting on. Now that I have the whole house to myself, what should I do? Wow, ten whole minutes into summer and I'm already bored.
