Eiichi loomed over the glass dome that covered the nursery. His eyes gleamed in the sunlight. It was sickeningly sunny. Perfect for a baby shower. A baby shower he hadn't been invited to. So what if he could morph into a dragon at will? Scales, fiery breath and a massive build doesn't mean he doesn't enjoy going to parties.
And it certainly doesn't mean it should stop the royal majesties from inviting him; it seemed everyone in the damn kingdom forgot he could turn back. It's not like he was cursed to live in the form of a dragon his entire life. His long life meant the ability to revert back to human form was a necessity.
As the sun beat mercilessly onto his scaly, ebony back, he felt anger bubble up and swirl within him, and he was tempted to snort a flame or two at the glass to see what would happen. The sight of his two underlings hovering adoringly over the overly-decorated crib of the baby flared his mood.
This is what they had to do today?
He came to a cruel realization that he'd been ditched. His eyes blazed, his purple irises brighter than ever.
One benefit of being in his current form was his sharp hearing. He could hear Kira's soft voice as if he was right in front of him, and he leaned closer to the window. Even with his wings folded, the pillars by the nursery creaked when they pressed against them.
Kira spoke, softly but firmly, "She will be beautiful, and many suitors will come to this land for her hand."
The king and queen brightened.
Nagi blew a strand of pink hair out of his eyes before he spoke up, "He means you guys will prosper like crazy. Lotsa gold."
They beamed and clutched at each other's hands excitedly.
Eiichi knew there was truth in Kira's words. The man's golden eyes bore seeking powers; he could rummage through the foreseeable future, (all vague, foggy and warped because the future is an ever-changing thing) and pull out something like a screencap of the future. The ignorant peasants of the town called him "The Oracle" even though that would imply that Kira's ability was something godly and simple. Like he could just look deep in his soul and tell them whether they'd be rich or if they'd marry the one they love.
But while he felt pride for Kira, the bitter taste of abandonment (a taste he despised; he did not appreciate feeling like he relied on anyone other than himself) lingered, and Eiichi decided to crash the baby shower and bestow a blessing of his own.
Quickly, he crouched, and folded his limbs and wings as close as he could to his body, and willed the transformation back to a human to start. Focusing on the form of his smaller self, he felt the uncomfortable pulling and retracting of his muscles before he was standing on two feet again.
The nursery he was towering over seconds before now loomed over him, and he had to crane his head to see the curve of the glass dome.
One problem, he was naked. Glancing around until he spotted a passerby, a common townboy who was lugging buckets of grains of rice, he muttered an incantation and the clothes vanished off the townboy and reappeared on Eiichi. The boy dropped the buckets in shock, and frantically tried cover his nude body with his arms. He rushed into the nearest house, where several shrill shrieks came, and yelling ensued.
