"So, how are we going to save Shaade?" Rebecca said brightly once Loki returned.
"We can't save him, he's dead," Loki pointed out. "The most we can do is preserve the body until someone has an idea."
The Frost Giant did, in fact, have an idea. An idea that had been bubbling away at the back of his mind for quite some time. He knew that Shaade was going to die; the man was reckless and crazy enough to run at a hungry lion head on. And so Loki's clever little brain had been whirring away and he had a plan, but he wasn't sure if it would work.
"So we're screwed then," Sophie said.
"George, you normally have ideas, you come up with something," Emmi said.
"You're all more intelligent than me!" Georgina protested, holding up her hands. "I'm just here because I have imagination."
Imagination... "I think I know how to stop the creatures," Loki said suddenly.
"How dangerous is it?" Harry asked warily.
"Heta, we are all going to be up against a siege of monsters of the very worst, most evil kind that will stop at nothing to take over this measly planet with all its technology and rule the universe," Loki said coolly. "It is, of course, going to be incredibly dangerous."
"There's one of the things I've missed about you, Loki," Georgina said with a smile. The Frost Giant (along with everyone else) looked at her in surprise and she kept on talking. "One, your never ending sass, two, your never ending supply of casual indifference, three, your coolness and four, the fact that you can freeze dead bodies and not bat an eyelid." She went pink when she realised she was rambling and Loki didn't miss the glances shared between the rest of the group.
"We're going to go and, er, talk about coffee now," Rebecca said suddenly.
"Coffee and cats," Sophie added.
"Brian, can you take us to that coffee shop?" Emmi asked, giving him a pointed glare.
"Oh, right, yes," Brian said, scrambling to his feet. "Does, er, anyone else want to come?"
A hurried chorus of 'yes'es cut through the air and Loki felt slightly frightened of the humans. Georgina just looked bewildered as her friends practically sprinted away, Rebecca levitating Shaade using electricity. (Why they were taking a dead body to a coffee shop the demigod had no idea.) Loki and Georgina were left standing still and looked slightly shocked at what had just occurred.
"What just happened?" Georgina said eventually.
"I'm not sure," Loki said, faintly realising that his heart was beating just a little faster. "Humans are funny little creatures."
"Who are you calling little?" Georgina said, standing a little straighter and taking a step closer. Loki was around six foot tall while Georgina was about 5'9"ish.
"Well, I am a Frost Giant," Loki said, stressing the last word.
"Giant for your ego, obviously," Georgina said cheekily. Loki laughed and for once it wasn't cold and merciless, it was warm and genuine and it scared him a little.
"Or maybe my power?" Loki suggested.
"We all know I'm in charge here," Georgina scoffed. "Not you, ice guy."
"What was that?" Loki said, cupping a hand around his ear and brushing back his black hair. "Nice guy, was it?"
"No, it was you're an alien with a large head," Georgina shouted in his ear, standing on tiptoe slightly. Loki laughed and ducked out of the way, catching his friend as she toppled forwards.
