The U.N. retreated that day. They did not bring an army, and they were not prepared. The 2nd Commander had told us the U.N. was coming to kill us. But with no army, how? I became highly suspicious, but if it was for my district, I would do anything.

“Alek, there you are!” That voice had blown me away to pieces.

“Father!” I looked straight into his eyes. It was the same golden brown. This was so unbelievable. We had our quick reunion. Adrian Carter, leader of the Arien Research Unit, my father, had only come back for quick war preperations. He was the one that designed the Ramming Cannons. When he had heard we had gone to war with the U.N., even possibly the whole world, he was quick to discuss matters with the 2nd Commander.

“I want you to remember something Alek, something isn’t right.” Those were the last words he gave me before he left the student military bunker. Yea, I noticed. My life had changed in the last month. I was supposed to be finishing middle school by now, but the Arien 1st Commander had requested for full battlefield training all of a sudden. Schools were shut down, and instead, we were transported to the outskirts of the Arien District.

All of this training led me to starting a war with the world. I wonder if I was a wanted man outside of Sol Island. News Reports were going crazy in our district. Thousands of celebrations were going saying we had achieved our first step of freedom. What were we gaining freedom from? Apparently there was no night-training because of a special occasion.  I wondered, how did I not even know what was going on?

I entered my bathroom and brought out some skin paint from a cabinet. Looking in the mirror, I painted the Arien symbol on my left cheek and ruffled up my thick black hair. Then I dressed in a red blazer with my uniform underneath it. The party was being held in at the top of the Military Academy, which was where the principle’s suite was built.

“Maybe I can find something in his office.” I had just thought of the most dangerous plan ever. People were keeping the students of the Military Academy in the dark. There had to be a reason for it.

It was going to be suicide.
