"Oh! Uh...Hey?" The Prussian boy asked in a slightly startled voice. A wide grin grew on the Canadian's face. A response! Mathew was so amazed by his attempts that he completely forgot that he had to say more than just a simple hello. "Ah! Yes! Darn it! H-hey uh..." Mathew was starting to get flustered as Gilbert placed a ghostly pale hand on the Canadian's shoulder. "Are you alright? Oh dear.. has my awesome self left you speechless? That tends to happen!" Gilbert cackled in his bold voice that cracked a tiny bit when he talked. Mathew blushed crimson with embarrassment. "A-actually... I was wondering if you would... like to get some coffee with me sometime?" He stuttered shyly. The Prussian's cheeks flushed a light pink and he nodded. It's true that he had liked the Canadian for a while. He never thought that any actions would be taken on the matter! "Y-yes! I'd like that very much!" He replied in a slightly high voice. A wide grin appeared on Mathew's slightly narrow face. Not only had he exchanged words with the Albino Prussian but he had a date with him too!
The two boys walked along the quiet street. They were silent most of the way. Mathew was too shy to talk and Gilbert didn't quite know what to say. Mathew shyly grabbed Gilbert's snow white hand as they walked. This caused to Prussian to blush ruby red. Although no words were exchanged on the subject, their fingers quickly became interlocked. Their arms started to move in a gentle swinging motion as they approached the quiet, little cafe. Being the proper gentleman he is, Gilbert held the door open eagerly for the love struck Canadian.
Both boys sat down quietly across from each other at a table in the corner. Mathew couldn't help himself as he stared at the Prussian's perfectly symmetrical face. He studied ever single detail. Then he paused. How could a fully grown man keep his chin so smooth and hairless? It looked like it had never even been home to a beard! The Canadian raised an eyebrow for a second before blinking quickly as Gilbert was leaning across the table to him. "Hey.. Mattie? Would you uh mind... ordering a coffee for me? I get really nervous when I have to order things," The Prussian confessed with an embarrassed expression on his face. Mathew nodded in reply and ordered for him and Gilbert when the waitress walked over.
As they both drank with coffee, they talked a lot. Surprisingly they both had a lot in common. Ever since Gilbert's nation fell, he had felt ignored and invisible ; much like Mathew. Both boys shared a love for horror movies and they loved reading books. There was one special thing that they had in common though. They were both falling madly in love with each other every second they spent together. They both knew that was never going to change.
After a few hours of non-stop talking, Gilbert glanced at his watch and let out a sigh. "It's so late... Ugh.. I don't want to go home. Me and Lud had an argument... I'd hate to go back to that..." Gilbert looked down in disappointment. Mathew frowned and without thinking blurted out, "You can stay at mine!" The Prussian's head quickly shot up and his face was filled with a mix of hope and shock. "R-really?! I can?" He asked. Mathew nodded and grinned gently. Gilbert threw himself across the table and hugged the Canadian tightly. "Thank you, Mattie!"
