The relief Matthew felt at seeing his brother was immense. He almost thought that al had forgotten about him. Actually Alfred probably just heard my scream and didn't want to pass up a chance at being the hero, now that I think about it. Alfred was a battle class mage, so naturally he used mostly battle class spells. However instead of doing something reckless, like trying to shoot the merman with an energy blast in which would be just as likely as hitting Matthew, Alfred did something Matthew had previously thought him incapable of. He used forethought, or more accurately a fleet footed spell, allowing his brother to simply run across the water. The fleet footed spell was actually wind class magic and Matthew didn't even know that Alfred knew any of the spells relating to that, even if Alfred's secondary magic type was wind class. Alfred was charging magic energy into his hands, the bright read magic casting an almost threatening glow around his brother. The merman growled furiously and unwound his tail from Matthews legs. At first he had thought the merman would let him go and flee, but obviously Matthew was not that lucky. The merman instead shifted his grip on Matthew so that he was holding him with only one arm, and with the other reached out into the open air. At first Mathew was curious as to what the strange merman thought he was doing, but that question was answered when he brought his arm quickly across in an arc. This intern sent out a wave of the merman's magic, which created an actual wave in the water and bowled his brother over. The merman then held his am out and muttered something under his breath. Matthew watched as the harmful magic began to float out of the water and condense in the merman's hand before solidifying, leaving behind a sickly blackish purple shell in his palm. In the time this was happening Alfred managed to pull free of the currents and took a gasping breath as he broke through the waters surface. The last thing the battle mage saw was his brother getting dragged into the water by the merman. Alfred tried going after them but it was no use, so dragging himself onto the beach he trudged back to the campsite to report in about what had happened. The only good thing that had come out of the situation being that the dark magic pollution had now been cleaned up, but what did that matter when he had just lost his baby brother?

(This line break is brought to you by the adorable fluff Ball known as Gilbird! All bow to his fluffy yellow cuteness!!! KESESESESEESESESESESESESESE!😁)

As soon as James thought they were far enough he released the human to string the shell made of condensed dark magic on the same chain as the protection charm was on, so as to prevent losing it. He turned to look at th... no his little chickadee to see the younger was obviously having a mini panic attack and was squeezing the life out of his poor familiar, odd James didn't remember taking the bear with them, but that did not matter at the moment. It wouldn't do to have his bride fear him after all. He really could have dealt with the situation better than he had though, this kind of stupid shit was something Allen was prone to do, and James sure as hell was not going to turn into anything like that dipshit. "U..um, e..exuse m..me!" James finally noticed that the younger man was trying to get his attention and turned to face him. "What." The younger flinched away slightly, he couldn't help but wince internally, that had come off harsher than he meant it to. "I..if you d..don't mind m..me ask..king, u..u..um wh..why did you k..kidn..nap me exactl..ly?" James couldn't help but think the others nervous stuttering was adorable and he answered without hesitation, "To be my bride of course." "O..Oh okay t..the... WAIT WHAT!" When his little chickadee finally seemed to realize what he meant the other shouted in surprise. Or at least must have been the youngers equivalent of shouting. It was more like the normal volume most people spoke in. James was simply more Shure that the smaller man in front of him would make the perfect queen. Weather the other wanted to be or not.
