The next day when hazelpaw awoke she saw a leafclan patrol in treeclan camp.
Among the cats were stripepaw, tabbypelt, And thistle fur.
"we know you got honeypaw,"hazelpaws' father hissed.
"i'm sorry but she's sleeping right now,"sandstar meowed."we found her on our territory and she is now apart of our clan like she asked."
Hazelpaw noticed stripepaw had vanished from the small group of cats.
"come on honeypaw!"stripepaw hissed."i've come to rescue you!"
"for what reason would i go with you? so i can be stuck being something i don't want to be?"she asked."and also the name is hazelpaw now."
"but cinderpaw misses you and mom is a wreck, you have to come home!"he pleaded.
"no, stripepaw, i made my desicion and i want my own life, hazelpaw meowed her orange eyes narrowing."now you best be going."
"okay,hon-hazelpaw, goodbye i'll see you at the next gathering,"stripepaw meowed with sadness in his voice.
Stripepaw snuck back into the group of three cats.
Hazelpaw stretched ot and walked out of her den and into the clearing of the camp.
She ignored her old clan and walked up to tigerpelt who was just finishing a thrush.
"what are we doing today, tigerpelt?"she asked in enthusiasum.
"well i was going to bring you to the midnight meadow to practise hunting,"he meowed."but first grab somehing to eat."
"yes, tigerpelt, and thank you for letting me eat before going off to training,"she meowed purring.
She wandered off to the fresh-kill pile and grabbed a bird off it, she sat down by the apprentices den and began to tear into it.
She watched as tabbypelt, her father, saw her and gasped.
He yelled something at sandstar than turned tail and left the treeclan camp.
Hazelpaw was confused at her fathers reaction, why did he leave? was he mad at her? What did he say to sandstar?
But soon enough her troubles passed and she was up and ready to get hunting.
Tigerpelt showed her to the midnight meadow, the meadow had lots of beautiful wildflowers and a small fishing lake.
"wow tigerpelt it's beautiful here!"she commented.
"yes this is usually where mates go during their spare time,"he meowed."also the younger cats like yourself use it for dates, so first thing we nedd to get right is your hunting crouch."
-----
By sunset tigerpelt had shown her how to stalk mice and was teaching her the basics of squirrel catching.
Tigerpelt absently gazed up ti the sky and meowed."okay tommorrow you can hunt with fernpaw and his sister jewelpaw."
"okay!"hazelpaw meowed.
"well when we get back go bring fresh-kill to the elders and then take something for yourself,"tigerpelt meowed.
The two got back to camp and hazelpaw went to do her duty.
She grabbed a sparrow and a squirrel And walked into the elders den, she put down the two items and asked."do you want something to eat?"
"ahh the new apprentice hazelpaw right?" angelpelt meowed.
"yes mam,"hazelpaw meowed.
"well fernpaw came around and got me and old ashfur here something, so you can have one and just put the other back,"angelpelt meowed.
"thank you!"hazelpaw mewed in thanks.
"no problem my dear,"angelpelt meowed.
Hazelpaw put the sparrow back and grabbed the squirrel she carried it to he apprentices den and began to chat with fernpaw who was eating waiting for her to bring the food.
"i guess now we will be training together,"she meowed purring in friendliness.
"yes it'll be epic!"he meowed.
Hazelpaw purred in humor."so when'd you become an apprentice?"
"about a moon ago, what about you?"fernpaw asked.
"same actually,"hazelpaw meowed.
"so your seven moons old then right?"he asked.
"actually seven and a half, my training was post-poned because there was no apprentices for my sister so we had to wait a half moon for two other kits to become apprentices with us,"hazelpaw meowed.
The two ate in silence but as they finished fernpaw began to speak once again."so i had extra time and i made you a nest in the apprentices den,"he meowed.
"cool so i geuss it's time to sleep then right?"she asked.
"yep,"fernpaw meowed stiffiling a yawn.
"well have a good sleep fernpaw,"
"you too hazelpaw,"he meowed licking his paw.
She strolled into the apprentices den and curled in the nest that had no scent.
Sleep came instantaneously.
