Honeypaw awoke in a strange place she didn't remember how she got there till she stood up.
She could see the dawn patrol heading off into the forest and the kits were playing in the meadow. Tigerpelt had left her a sparrow it seemed.
She quickly ate the sparrow and walked into the bright sun, cats stared at her but not in hostility but in curiosity.
She spotted tigerpelt walking to meet her and she began to walk towards him as well.
"thanks for the sparrow,"she meowed when they were face to face.
"no problem," he meowed.
"so what do you have to do today?"she asked.
"well i'm on a hunting patrol after your apprentice ceremony,"he meowed.
"hmm i wonder who's going to be my mentor?"she asked.
"probably liongrowl, he meowed, liongrowl has lots of experience with being a mentor."
"which one is he?"she asked.
"hes the golden tom with really long, shaggy fur,"tigerpelt meowed flicking his tail discrertly to were liongrowl was sitting.
"okay thanks,"honeypaw meowed.
"no problem,"tigerheart purred,"so there's still a while till your ceremony would you like to go out for a walk?"
"sure,"honeypaw meowed.
"lets go!"tigerpelt meowed.
The two walk out of camp and into the forest.
"so what was it like in leafclan?"tigerpelt asked.
"well it was always about starclan never about another cats' will, she meowed, i got sick of being something that i couldn't be and didn't want to be."
"but you are born into it wouldn't you have gotten used to it?"
"no, my brother was the next clan leader actually so when i heard i was upset because i wasn't clan leader material, my sister was a queen and i was stuck being a medicine cat."
"hmm well what did you want to be?"
"i wanted to be a warrior and have kits,"she confessed.
"well that's pretty normal,"he meowed.
"but if i was chosen as a warrior i couldn't have kits,"honeypaw told him.
"well its good you're here because i like you and your awesome to be with,"he confessed.
"i like you too,"she said.
"yes we are great friends!"he announced into the empty forest.
"yep awesome friends,"she said slightly sadly but she nudged him showing her enthusiasim in just being friends.
"hmm i didn't know we came so far,"he remarked smelling the leafclan border.
In the distance honeypaw could hear calling."HONEYPAW!"
"lets go i hear leafclan cats,"tigerpelt meowed.
"yea,"honeypaw meowed nodding quickly.
"hey i'll race you back to camp!"tigerpelt meowed playfully.
"okay one, two, go!"she meowed.
The two began to run, scaring up the prey from the bushes, tigerpelt was a tail lengh ahead.
Honeypaw raced faster and began to tumble knocking down tigerpelt.
"oops sorry,"she said purring in humor.
"that's fine,"he meowed purring back
The two got up and shook the dust from their pelt walking back to camp.
---
Upon returning to camp honeypaw recognised that the sun was almost directly above her.
She walked upto the freshkill pile and fetched a small mouse for her.
She chewed on it anxiously in her den watching the cats when someone padded up to her den.
"hey!"he tom meowed.
"hi..."she replied.
"i'm fernpaw,"he told her.
"honeypaw,"she mewed.
"well i geuss we'll be training together?"he meowed.
"um-yea i geuss,"honeypaw meowed.
"well it was nice to meet you maybe we can be friends?"he meowed.
"yea i'd like that,"honeypaw meowed.
Honeypaw then heard sandstars' call.
"all those old enough to catch their own prey join her beneath the naming ledge!"
She skipped out of her den and sat under the rock gazing happily upwards.
"i know you have heard about the newcomer from leafclan,"sandstar began," but she has come to ask if she can join our clan!"
"she's so young!"the cats whispered.
"she'll run back as soon as she is begged by her family,"an abnoxious warrior commented.
Honeypaw held her stature.
"now starclan i ask you to strip this name from this cat as she is what it no longer is, this apprentices' new name is hazelpaw and tigerpelt will be her mentor, he is a strong young cat who has earned the trust of me by bringing you here."
Tigerpelt touhed noses with her and the clan cheered.
the abnoxious cat had quieted down and was looking solemnly at her.
She smiled wide as the cats cheered, she was happy she was almost a warrior
