“Now, we need you to close your eyes, but follow me.” Jess said as she took my hand and pulled me. I felt myself walking through a hallway, and suddenly I smelled candles. I guessed it was Connor’s room so I stepped forward. He guided me to a chair and pushed my shoulders down, directing me to sit.

“So, Shay. Since it’s your birthday, we decided to do something special”

“Well, okay, what did you do? Can I open my eyes yet?” I slowly moved my hand away from my eyes, but I felt jess put it back.

“No! Wait here.”

It was silent for a minute or two, when finally, Connor spoke.

“Okay, open your eyes if you’re prepared to faint.” He giggled and I uncovered my eyes. In front of me were 4 brand new outfits, 6 phone covers, and a whole pile of new makeup [http://www.polyvore.com/shay/set?id=81355200]. My jaw fell open immediately and I could barely get any words out.

“Guys…I… thank you so much…” I took a breath. “This is why you guys are my best friends!” We all laughed for a minute before Connor started tearing up.

“Con, what’s wrong?”

“I dunno, I’m just gonna miss you so much. We grew up together, and shared so many memories. You help me and Jess through the toughest things… what will we do without you?” He wiped his nose and a tear dripped down each of his rosy cheeks.

“Aw, Connor, don’t cry! I’m not leaving until tomorrow, and I will be back. Don’t worry.” I wiped a tear from his eye and wrapped him in a big hug. It eventually turned into a group hug and I whispered “I love you guys, don’t ever forget that.”

The tears were rushing down my face as I waved goodbye to my best friends. I was about to board the plane, and I felt slightly regretful. I mean, I love the idea of going to Texas, but I just don’t want to leave my friends behind. I mouthed the words, “goodbye, I’ll miss you” and slowly walked into the plane. I found my seat and sat down. Yes, window seat. Sitting by me were two couples, one elderly and the other in the mid-20’s. Sigh. I would die to have a boyfriend. It’s not like I’m desperate or anything, I just want one of those cute relationships. You know, like the ones you see on tumblr. But, of course, no one could ever like me.

Later, the plane was about 10 minutes to San Antonio. I turned off my phone and looked out the window. I could see some buildings below, but the clouds were blocking most of them. As the clouds cleared up, I could faintly see the top of the airport. Quickly covering my ears, I packed my stuff up and waited.

Finally, I walked off the plane into the airport. It was hot, and the light from the windows was blinding my eyes. Everyone was either tan or sunburned, and they were all wearing shorts. I looked like the odd one out; I was pale, wearing jeans, and I was taller than all of the other girls. Oh well, I thought, I can learn to fit in. I was so busy looking around, that I dropped my bag and my suitcase, spilling everything onto the floor. Dammit Shawna! Blushing, I bent down to pick everything up, but I wasn’t the only one.

“Here, let me help you.”
