Running. Running barefoot through the sun-kissed forest. “Jc!” I jumped over a few twigs and crisp leaves. We ran and laughed for miles and miles through that forest. “Jc! Come back! I-“

Wh-what?

Oh, right, a dream. That was an odd dream, nothing I’ve ever dreamed before. I sat in bed for a minute and checked my phone.

“2 new messages from ‘Conrad’ and ‘Jess’. Swipe to unlock.”

“Conrad: morning, we miss u so much L come back !”

“Jess: hope ur having fun in texas. call me later and tell me all the deets”

“Reply All: good morning amigos J its been pretty fun here. I met this guy yesterday and he let me spend the night at his place but don’t worry, im fine. ttyl”

I hit send and locked my phone. As I stood up, there was a knock on my door.

“Come in!” Jc walked in with a plate of greasy bacon and sat down on my bed.

“Here’s breakfast for the stowaway stranger!” He laughed and handed me the plate.

“Aw, shut up. Thanks for the food.” I set the plate on the table beside me and waited for him to break the dark silence. He didn’t say anything.

“So, what do you have planned for today?” I asked.

He smiled and stood up.

“Follow me, you’ll love it.” He held out his hand and I grabbed it.

Woah, he has really soft hands…

We walked down the street for at least a half an hour. Jc told me to close my eyes, so I did. He pulled my hands and stopped about a minute later.

“Okay, open.”

I opened my eyes and in front of me was a huge shopping mall.

“Jc! I don’t have any mon-“ He held up a thick stack of cash and handed it to me.

“You may not have any, but I do. Here.”

“No, I can’t take this! It’s your money. Keep it.” I shoved the money away from me.

“Come on, Shawn. You barely have any clothes and I doubt you have much money. Please, just take it. For me.”

“Fine. How much is it?”

“Aw, I dunno, probably $250…”

“Oh jesus, thank you so much!” I gave him a hug and ran inside. I heard him yell to me before I got to the door.

“Meet me at the food court at lunch time!” he yelled.

~

When I got inside, it wasn’t crowded at all. Almost like we had the whole mall to ourselves. I walked upto the directory map and looked for a Forever 21.

Okay, left. Right. Right. Left.

I followed the directions and quickly found my way. I walked in and was greeted by one of the store clerks.

“Hello, do you need help finding anything today?”

“No thanks, I’m just looking around. I just moved here so I need some new clothes, hah.”

“Okay! My name is Vanessa if you need anything!” She gave me one of those huge smiles that they are obviously paid to do. Gosh, I find that so creepy. I walked around a bit and grabbed a few pairs of shorts and shirts. Suddenly, everybody started getting loud.

I walked over by Vanessa.

“What’s  going on? Why is there so much commotion?”

“I don’t know! We should probably-“ The loudspeaker interrupted her.

“Attention Shoppers, we are currently on lockdown. Please remain calm and get to a safe area.”

Everyone started screaming.

“What? Where’s Jc?” I started frantically searching around for him, but I couldn’t see him anywhere.

“I don’t know who that is, but we need to get down! Come with me!”

Vanessa pushed her way through the crowd when someone bumped into me.

“Shawna! I found you!”

“Jc! Come on, we need to follow Vanessa, the mall is on lockdown ‘cause someone found a gun!”

“Vanessa? Oh… Vanessa…”

I pulled Jc along with us and we hid in a janitors closet.

“Y’all stay right here, I’m gonna go look for information…” Jc unlocked the door.

“No! Jc! Come back! I-“ The door closed and he left.

~~~
Aha, yet another cliffhanger! And might I say some pretty scary stuff... What do you think will happen next? Why was Jc so reluctant about Vanessa? Did you notice the connection of Shay's dream and the end? Hm. Well, a new chapter sould be up later this week.  Oh, and if you wanna talk to me my twitter is @sexualconnor. But yeahh. That's it!
