-3 months later-
"Jamie it's your 18th birthday. Don't you think you should go have fun?" My mom sat down next to me.
"Meech should be picking me up soon." I smiled at her. "It is our 2 month also."
"You know, I am surprised you and him are actually making it, but I was thinking maybe Sarah? You haven't even talked about her since the accident."
"She hasn't even called mom." I looked at my phone.
"Maybe she is doing the same thing as you, waiting for you to call." My mom tapped my shoulder as she got it. "It's a two way street kiddo." She smiled at me. "Enough about that, have fun tonight, but not to much fun!" She left the room as I got up.
I walked up the stairs to my room and looked in the mirror, turning to my side and lifting up my shirt. four stab wombs, three nights in the hospital, two months of bandages, and it all looked like one messed up scar. I sat down on the edge of my bed, running my finger down the scar. I will be okay, keep my head up and smile. I put my shirt back down and started looking for my shoes. Before I could find them a random number called my phone.
"Hello?" I answered questioning if I should have.
"Jamie?" The voice on the other end sounded familiar, but I couldn't figure it out.
"Yes, who is this?" I could tell it was a guy.
"Uhm, I just wanted to say Happy Birthday. I'm sorry." Hang up.
Okay. Now that was awkward. It made me think for a minute, I pulled up my contacts. Sarah, call.
"Jamie?" She answered almost sounding excited.
"Hey! Sorry I haven't talked to you lately."
"I thought you were dead..." excitement gone.
"So you heard...?" I couldn't finish my sentence.
"Heard what?" Now she sounded worried and mad.
"It's a really long story. Want to go to dinner tonight? Catch up? I miss my bestfriend! You can come with me, Meech, and our friend Bree." There was a really long pause.
"Who is Meech? I mean I would love to go, because it is your birthday. Happy birthday. What happened to Kevin?"
"You missed a lot, but we can pick you up at 7. Is that okay?"
"Not by choice, and I will drive myself." In-case she needed to escape, but she wouldn't say that. I told her where we were going and what time to be there. We ended the call.
honk. honk. There he was, with his perfection sitting inside an old mustang. You got this. I stepped out the door, and I was gone.
-------
We got to the restaurant and I saw Sarah's car. I pointed it out to Meech and Bree because I was so excited. I jumped out of the car and ran to see Sarah.
"Hey birthday girl!" That was not Sarah's voice. That was a man. I looked at Sarah and she was looking past me.
Then I heard Meech "you are fucking kidding me... Tyler what are you doing here?" I just stood there my back toward him. A tear started forming in my eye, Sarah noticed almost immediately and was holding me.
"Get in my car, we can leave." I just looked at her. "Let's go, I want to know everything." Without saying anything to Meech, Tyler, and Bree I jumped into Sarah's car.
We raced down the road while I told her everything. I told her about the weed Kevin had me smoke, meeting Meech and Bree, meeting Tyler, I also explained his perfection, the day I spent with Tyler, oh that wonderful day, and the stabbing. She had so many questions, I answered them all honestly until she asked the biggest one.
"So how did you end up with Meech?"
"I'm not actually with him, he is still with Bree." I looked down. "It's just a cover for my mom to ask less questions."
She looked at me like I was crazy. "So Tyler? Why did we run from him?"
I shook my head, "honestly, I'm not sure. He ran from me first." Left me in the hospital, and never came back.
"Well I don't know if you have noticed, but the same car has been following us this whole time." I look in the mirror on my side. "Jamie, do I stop or try to lose them?"
I look at her. "Just stop. It's probably Meech. Thank you for listening."
Sarah looked at me almost hurt, "i'm always going to be here. I will always be your bestfriend."
We stopped the car and both jumped out, it wasn't Meech's car at all. The other car stopped behind us, out came Tyler.
"Hello Jamie..."
