Emily's POV
After we hear Riley yell at Izzy, we stand there in silence, not knowing what to do.
"Should we go talk to them?" Toby finally asks.
"I don't know about Riley, but I know that Izzy would just want to be left alone right now. She just needs to think about everything and cry it out," I say.
"Riley's never been this angry before, so I don't know what to do," Connor tells us. I take in a deep breath and go underwater, engulfing myself in the sound from the water swishing as Connor and Toby move around. I open my eyes, and they're gone. I swim over to the ladder and climb out. Somebody comes up from behind and wraps my towel around me, keeping his arms around me, too.
"I'm going to talk to Riley," Toby says, walking past us. I turn around and face Connor. His arms are still around my waist, and he's smiling down at me. I was going to say something, but I forgot as soon as I looked into his eyes. It sounds cheesy, but when your face is this close to somebody's face like his, you sort of forget everything. He starts to lean in, and so do I. I feel his warm breath right above my top lip, and when we're about to meet, Toby runs out. "Riley's missing."
"Take a left here," Toby tells me. I flick on the turning signal and turn, heading into the city. As we're driving around, I spot a Starbucks. I look at the curb in front of it, and I pull over. Toby and I jump out and run over to Riley.
"Go away," he immediately says to us. "No, we're going home," Toby says.
Me: We found him.
Mr. Blue Eyes: Where was he?
Me: Starbucks, where else?
"C'mon, your mom's probably wondering where we all are," I say. Riley sighs, and we all climb into the truck with him in the middle. When we get back, I get out, and I turn to the end of the driveway as Connor pulls in. Riley pushes me, causing me to fall and scrape my right shoulder on the driveway. He runs inside, leaving me on the ground. "Dude, what the hell?!" Connor yells, running to my side. I sit up and notice that it's bleeding.
"Ow," I mutter. Connor helps me up, and we walk inside with Toby behind us.
"Oh my lord! What happened to you?" Mrs. McDonough asks when she sees my shoulder.
"Toby, can you explain it to her while I help Emily clean up her scrape?" Connor asks. Toby nods, and we walk into his bathroom. He closes the door and goes under the sink for the first aid kit.
"Sit on the counter," he says, and I do. He pulls out some rubbing alcohol.
"No, that stuff stings," I whine. He smirks and takes my hand.
"Just hold my hand, and you'll be okay," he says. Well, that resulted in me almost breaking his hand. He puts a giant band-aid on it and smiles at me.
"Now, was that so bad?" he asks. I nod, and he throws his head back and laughs.
"It's not funny! It really did hurt!" I shout, smacking his shoulder. I realize that he's still holding my other hand. I look up at him, and his face is suddenly closer. He's about to kiss me when there's a knock on the door.
"Dinner's almost ready," Toby says. Connor walks over and opens the door.
"Have you talked to Izzy?" Toby asks me. I shake my head. He nods and leaves, and I hear him open Izzy's door. It closes, but I don't hear any more footsteps. Connor turns to me.
