Chapter 8

There was a bright yellow ring of clouds with golden light pouring through the middle that was quietly settled above the city. I got out of the car and walked into the building. It was quiet other than the subtle clicking from the fax machines. I walked up to the elevator and pressed the up button. The elevator came down and made a ding noise as it opened. I stepped in and pressed the 29th button. The elevator started upwards and I looked down.

The elevator suddenly stopped and opened. A tall man stood outside. His salt and pepper hair was gently slicked back and his tie was tucked into his expensive suit.

"Mr. Denero?" His blue eyes softened and he smiled.

"(Y/n) it's good to see you," he said. He stepped into the elevator.

"You too. How've you been?"

"Good! And you?"

"Pretty good!" I smiled and he loosened his tie.

"Why are you here (y/n)?"

"Just visiting and you can't see the sunset from home," I said. "What about you?"

"I'm working later now because Allie was uh.. diagnosed with cancer actually," he said, giving me a sad smile.

"I'm so sorry. Tell me if I can help at all Mr. Denero. My father would insist," I said. He smiled and laughed.

"Your dad would be proud of you (y/n). It was good to see you," he said. I gave him a sympathetic smile and reached to hug him. He wrapped his arms around me.

"You too," i said. The door opened and he walked out. I leaned back against the wall and my phone buzzed.

Eren: hey (y/n)! u can come to Jeans party 2nite???

Me: when.

Eren: 8:00

I checked my phone. It was 6:30.

Me: mkay.

Eren: Yes! Thanks (nickname)!

Me: don't call me that.

Eren: story

Eren: *srry

Me: spell it right.

Eren: Sorry.

Me: what's his address

Eren: 9264 Johnson drive.

Me: thanks

The door opened for the last time and i got out. I stepped out and looked around.

I turned left and walked down the darkened hall. I found the familiar door and opened it quietly. Everything was quite. The sunlight poured through the windows reflecting a golden glow on the walls.

I sat down in front of the large window and looked down. The city was bustling with energy. the sun sat calmly, slowly lowering into the horizon. I turned around and looked at my fathers old desk. It was untouched, other than the white note sitting on top.

It took me a while, but I finally found Jeans house. Multiple cars were parked outside the house. I parked my car, and walked inside. I saw some people I recognized from school, and some people I knew outside of school. I walked into the kitchen to see Eren and Jean laughing their asses off over a video.

"Ahh. You two are best friends now?"

"Lovers thanks for asking," Jean snorted.

"Hi (y/n)," Eren says. I smile at him.

"What's so funny?" I ask.

"Watch," Jean hands me his phone and I hit play. A woman had a solo cup on her back. She somehow managed to flip the cup.

"HEY EVERYBODY!" Jean yells. Everyone looks at him.

"ILL GIVE SOMEONE TWENTY DOLLARS IF THEY CAN DO THIS," he says. People crowd around him, looking at his phone. He hit play.

"I can do that!" A girl said.

"Me too!"

"Line up!" Jean says. I stand with my arms crossed. The first girl failed. As well as the second. I rolled my eyes waiting for the sound of a solo cup hitting the ground. There was one person left. Everyone crowded around her. I closed my eyes. The sound of a Solo cup hitting the floor echoed through the room. I opened my eyes. People groaned in disappointment.

"(Y/n) can you go pleaasssee?"

"No."

"Please?"

"No."

"Please?"

"Fine!"

I pick the solo cup off of the ground and my cheeks flushed red. I bent over.

"Come on (y/n)!"

I moved my butt upwards, and the cup flips. I wait for the sound of the cup hitting the floor.

"Oh my fuck!"

"What?"

"You did it!" Jean yells excitedly. I turn my head to see that I really did do it. People in the room clapped. Jean grabbed the cup, and I stood up.

"Dammit Jean! Why did you make me do that?" I punch him, covering my face.

"It was funny!"

"Oh my god."

"What?" I roll my eyes, and walk over to Eren again. The music turned on again, blasting through the house. I walked around looking for people I knew. People were standing on the stairs, looking at me when I walked up the stairs. I reached the top of the stairs and started walking around the top floor. It was quiet except for the humming of the music downstairs and people talking. A guy wobbled passed me. I looked into a room. Nothing. He turned around and I quickly turned away. Before I could do anything, he grabbed my shoulder.

"Hey!" He shoved my against the wall. He raised his fingers to my lips.

"Shh," he laughs. My eyes widen with fear. He reaches his hand down south. I struggle to stop him, but he was forcing all of his body weight against me. He started rubbing my crotch. I lifted up my fist, and smacked it into his jaw. He fell backwards, and slammed into the wall. Tears fell down my cheeks. He was out cold, and there was no sign that he would wake up. "(Y/n)?" I hear. I looked over to see Levi. I quickly turned around, and ran down the stairs. Everything became blurry as tears filled my eyes. I pushed through the crowd, and flew out of the front door. I ran to my car and quickly got in. I watched as Eren, Levi and Jean came running out of the house. I turned the car on, and sped away. I drove and drove until I reached the edge of town. I turned right and drove down the long gravel road. I stopped the car in the middle of the road, and got out. I ran down the road until I came across a cliff. There was a deep dark lake surrounding it. I climbed up the cliff and stood on the top. I walked to the edge, looking down at the black water below. It quietly lapped onto the beach. I heard a car on gravel, and turned around. It was jeans car. Levi hopped out of the car, and looked up at me.

"(Y/n)! Don't do it," Eren screamed. Tears fell down my face as they ran towards me. I turned around, and looked down. Then I let myself fall.
