Aren't you guys tired of them? lol

Inspiration: I was working on a song today and wondered what it'd be like if Margot and Rihanna decided to collaborate. I guess this is sometime on tour, like the other short. And this title is all about the wordplay.

Hot and Bothered

It was hell outside, but that didn't necessarily mean it was heaven indoors. The air conditioning didn't help much. I regretted buying the small house. The aesthetic of being surrounded by nothing but nature drew me in, though in hindsight I should've considered the god-awful weather.

"It's so fucking hot." Robyn complained, fanning herself. She had long since abandoned most of her clothes, now in just her underwear. I had done the same, but kept my shorts on.

"Yeah, I know." I said. "Sorry."

It had been my idea to come here to ditch the paps for a bit. It almost wasn't worth it. The heat being one issue, the advantage being the precious time I had with Robyn wasn't all about sex. That option was ruled out a long time ago. Being even warmer seemed more like a disadvantage.

"This place couldn't have even come with a pool?"

"There's a lake a few miles that way, but a bunch of people are probably already there."

She threw her long hair back. Her skin was coated in a light sweat, giving her a pretty shine. "Ugh."

"Wanna do something?" I asked. As fun as it was to complain, I wanted to be productive with her.

She turned towards me and raised an eyebrow. "Like what?"

"I have a recording studio in here, if you wanna-"

"You want to work? Really?"

I frowned. "What do you mean? Songwriting's fun."

Robyn sighed. "MaMa, it's just so tedious. And to get a good song? Even more work. Every time I have to write with my team, I just lose my shit."

"Then I guess you haven't done it the Margot Way." I winked, snapping my fingers.

She rolled her eyes with a fond smile. "The Margot Way?"

"Yup. C'mon, let me show you how the magic happens."

I took her hand and made our way into the basement. It doubled as a rec room with comfortable, modern seating, a foosball table, and a large T.V. It was my favorite room in the whole house. The dark blue walls were soundproof, the tech state-of-the-art. Overall, it was just really fucking nice to be rich.

Robyn nodded in approval. "Nice."

"Thanks." I grinned. Picking up a guitar, I sat next to her on the couch.

"This is how it starts?"

"Yup. Why, how do you usually start?" I asked while tuning.

"We pick an idea for lyrics and just go from there." she shrugged.

"Here, we usually mess around until we get something good."

She looked at me, unconvinced. "That's it?"

"Yeah. You're overthinking it. As long as it sounds good, then you can put words to it. Or even vice versa, but you get better results the first way." I explained, picking at notes and strumming chords at random.

"Well, what should I do?" Robyn asked, putting her hair up in a bun. "You're the one with the guitar."

"You can work on a melody with that pretty voice of yours." I winked.

"Margot, you flirt." she chastised. Her tattooed hand lightly slapped my arm. "Get to work."

"Yes ma'am. Oh, wait. Do you want the song to be about anything in particular?"

She pursed her lips in thought. "Hmm...how about how good you look playing that guitar?"

"How is putting my hands all over this wooden thing attractive?"

"Reminds me of how you put your hands all over me."

I blushed a deep pink. Robyn realized how sensual her words were and laughed. This was no time to get hot and bothered when the heat was being a bother.

"Oh, s-shut up and let me work." I muttered in embarrassment, making her laugh harder. It made me smile anyways, the way she scrunched her eyes when she laughed.

"I want it to be about us." Robyn said more seriously. She tucked a lock of hair behind my ear. "About..."

"About how we found love in a hopeless place?" I joked.

"Babe, that song's been done already." Robyn flicked my nose.

"I know..."

"I want it to be about how you never realized how happy someone could make you." she confessed, staring into me. "How just being with them makes you feel complete even if you're not doing much."

I stared right back. "That's...wow. That's beautiful, Robs."

"Doesn't come damn close to you, Mars." she replied with a soft smile, leaning in to kiss me.

I leant right in. She was still smiling, so it was weird because I could feel her teeth instead of the cushioning of her lips. I pulled back and turned away, trying to focus on my guitar.

At once I felt a familiar pair of lips on my cheek. "Such a cutie."

-------------

"How does this sound to you?" I asked, and fingerpicked an intro. It sounded sweet, and I could tell from Robyn's face that she thought so too.

"I think it's perfect. Anything else?"

"I was thinking these chords would be good." I strummed them.

"They are."

I looked at her. She was staring into space. "Got a melody yet?"

"Play the whole thing, I think I've got something."

She closed her eyes once I played the intro again. When the chord progression began, she began to sing.

"There is no way I could have any regrets,
With the way your eyes look at me
I thought a mirror was the only love I'd ever get
Then you came and I began to see."

Robyn opened her eyes. I stopped playing. She shrugged. "That was all I came up with, sorry."

"No, that's-that's okay. It was good."

We stayed up all night trying to finish the song. We would finish for awhile, but then would disagree with a certain part until it was around seven in the morning.

"That song is a fucking jam." I crowed, pumping my fist in the air. The sheet music was laid out on the coffee table. "It's gonna be on the radio and we're gonna play it everywhere we go. Together."

Robyn sighed in disappointment. "Management wouldn't...wouldn't like it."

"Why not?"

"They're already suspicious about our relationship. I don't want to give them anything that might confirm it."

"Then just say you wrote it." I pleaded, clutching the papers. "I had nothing to do with it. You can even say one of the boys helped."

"Margot-"

I interrupted, "Don't let them take this away from us. Let people enjoy it. I want something to have with you publicly. This is as close as it's gonna get."

Robyn relented. "Alright." she said, taking the sheet music into her hands. "Just for you."
