Rhiannon's POV
Upon Riker's insistence, I was going back to my house to get several changes of clothes. I didn't want to go. How could I? I needed to get a new job!! Even of I went with the, on tour, how was I going to pay? For that long even?
Yeah, yeah, Rhee, live a little.
Sure, when I have money.
I was in the van freaking out. How was I going to evade Riker and his band? Sure, they were fun people, but I couldn't go on tour with them?! Who was going to pay? And my money was all saved for university. I couldn't afford to splurge!
"We're here!" Ellington announced. I looked up and sure enough, my dingy apartment complex was there.
"Thanks for the ride," I smiled.
"No problem, now go get you things!" He commanded.
Geez.
"I'll come with you!" Rydel announced.
I groaned inwardly. Now I'd never be able to run away!
As she followed me to where I stayed, an idea formed in my head.
"Hey, Rydel," I said, "you wanna help me pack, right?"
"Of course!" She replied, grinning at me.
This would be easier than I thought.
"Well what would I have to pack?"
She paused for a moment. "Well, it's a summer tour, so I was thinking maybe you could use a few bikinis, plenty of singlets and shorts. Maybe a few T-shirts and skirts and dresses and whatever you want to do while you're with us..."
She started rambling until I cleared my throat. She looked at me sheepishly and then apologized.
"Well, there's this bikini I thought I'd want to bring. Could you help me look for it? It had blue and white stripes," I told her.
She mock saluted me before scrambling around the apartment. I giggled quietly. I didn't own any bikinis.
I pretended to look for a suitcase. "Hey, I don't think you own any bikinis here," she said in a confused tone. I pretended to think for a while, before I smacked myself on the forehead.
"Oh!! I must have left it with my neighbor!! See, we take turns to do each others' laundry because we are almost never at home, so we figured it would probably be best if we took turns."
"I'll get it for you!" She offered.
Too easy.
"Great!" I pulled her hand and led her to the outside of my house.
"So, wh-" I slammed the door.
"I'm sorry!!" I apologized through the door.
"Hey!!"
"Nothing personal. I just can't go I'm sorry!"
"But Riker said-"
"I can't go," I said.
"Why?" She asked.
I thought of a reason. Why couldn't I go?
Oh yeah, because I needed to EARN MONEY!
"I need to work!"
Even I rolled my eyes at my lame answer.
"Then work for us," she suggested.
"What?"
"Let me in I'll tell you more!"
Before I knew what she was doing, I opened the door and let her in.
"Ha! Like Riker would let you do anything!"
I swore. "Now you are going to pack, and I won't tell Riker anything."
I stuck my tongue out at her childishly and went about packing like a petulant child.
Damned it, Rhiannon, you were so close.
I threw in a bit of clothes and then zipped up my bag. "I'm done," I muttered.
She gave me a triumphant smirk and then pulled me out of the place, letting me lock up. "We're going to have a sleepover," she told me. "I have a feeling we're going to be good friends!"
"But-"
"No buts! As per captain's orders, you're coming with us and you're going to have fun!"
"But-" she clamped her hand over my mouth tightly, ensuring I wouldn't be able to lick her hand. Smart girl.
She pushed me into the car.
"Drive!!"
And that started my adventure to their house.
*
"I don't wanna play," I said.
Rydel laughed. "You say that like you have a choice. Cute."
"You can't make me," I told her.
She laughed. Like full out laughed. Rolling on the floor laughing her ass off out loud kind of laughed. "Boys!"
Just like that, four boys all appeared out of no where. Riker grinned at me. "You should really learn to comply."
Oh snap.
I had to think fast. They had me cornered on all sides.
Well that was kind of my fault though. "Look! A pretty girl!"
Simultaneously, all heads turned. "I'm sorry!" I called to the one I pushed as I ran out. Instantly, all four boys and Rydel gave chase.
One of them got pretty close but I jumped out of reach just in time. Good one, I congratulated myself.
"Missed me, missed me, bet you wanna kiss me!"
Rydel laughed out loud.
However, I should probably have paid more attention to where I was going, because I ran straight to a wall. I tried to stop, but that just gave the person behind the advantage, and snatched me. But he couldn't stop in time and that led in a pileup, with me right at the bottom.
"Ouch," I groaned.
"You deserved it," Riker told me, flicking me in the forehead.
"Let's play truth or dare," Rocky suggested.
So we ended up playing truth or dare.
And guess who went first?
That's right, yours truly.
"Dare."
Rocky grinned. "I dare you to sit on Riker's lap for the rest of the game."
My face heated. "Umm, wouldn't his girlfriend mind?"
They all started laughing. "Sorry, sweetheart," Ross, I think, said. "He doesn't have a girlfriend."
My cheeks became really hot.
Uncomfortably, I approached him and then sat down. I was sure I was the same color as a chili by then. He put his arm around me so I "wouldn't fall off". His words, not mine.
Girls would have killed to be in my position, but all I could think to myself was how awkward it was. Fancy that, me staying in a big house, invited by people who might as well have been strangers, sitting on the lap of who I thought was probably the most attractive.
Yay me.
