People always underestimated the quiet ones.
They thought the loudest person in the room was the most dangerous.
They were wrong.
Liam was the storm.
Everyone saw him coming.
I was different.
I watched.
I listened.
I waited.
And when I moved, it was because I already knew the ending.
That was why Liam trusted me with finding out the truth about Isabella.
My brother had already made up his mind.
To Liam, Isabella Moretti was one thing.
Marco's wife.
And anyone connected to Marco was a possible enemy.
But Liam was also smart enough to know one thing.
Assumptions got people killed.
That was why he sent me.
"Find out who she really is," he told me.
Not because he cared.
Because he needed to know what Marco was protecting.
So I started with what anyone would find.
Records.
Documents.
Public information.
And that was the problem.
Everything looked normal.
Too normal.
Isabella Moretti.
Married to Marco.
No criminal history.
No obvious connections.
No evidence of force.
If I stopped there, the answer was simple.
She chose him.
I called Liam.
"She could have married him willingly."
The silence on the other end told me exactly what he thought.
He didn't believe it.
But he didn't have proof either.
"Keep digging," he said.
So I did.
"Find her family."

Then I found Adrian Moretti.
Her father.
At first, there was nothing unusual.
A normal man.
A normal background.
Until I looked closer.
Years ago, Adrian Moretti was drowning.
Debt.
Loans.
Financial problems.
Then suddenly...
Everything changed.
His debts disappeared.
His lifestyle improved.
And the timing matched one event.
Isabella's marriage to Marco.
That was when I knew there was something underneath the surface.
Because people don't change their entire life overnight without someone opening the door.
And Marco was the kind of man who never opened doors without expecting something in return.
Before Marco entered Isabella's life, Adrian Moretti was desperate. After Marco entered Isabella's life, Adrian Moretti was comfortable. The timing was too perfect.
Too calculated.
I stared at the information in front of me.
A father doesn't suddenly receive enough money to erase years of problems without giving something in return. And I already knew what Marco wanted. I grabbed my phone. Liam answered after one ring.
"What did you find?"
His voice was exactly how I expected. Cold.

Like every conversation was a step closer to Marco's death.
"I found Isabella's father."
"And?"
I looked down at the documents.
"His name is Adrian Moretti. Before Isabella married Marco, he was drowning financially. Debt, unpaid loans, failed businesses."
Liam stayed quiet.
I continued.
"But after the marriage was arranged, his situation changed."
"How?"
"Money."
A pause.
"From Marco?"
"I'm still confirming it."
Liam exhaled slowly.
"You think he sold her."
"I think he knows more than he's saying."
Silence.
Then Liam spoke.
"Go back."
I frowned.
"To Adrian?"
"Yes."
"Liam—"
"Ask him yourself."
His voice became sharper.
"I want to hear him explain why his daughter's life changed at the same time his money problems disappeared."
I looked at the address on my screen.
"You're not going to like what you find, or you won't get the real answer you want ."
"I already don't."
A pause.
He ends the call.

When Liam told me to go back to Adrian Moretti's house, I understood what he wanted.

Answers.

But answers weren't always found by asking the right questions.

Sometimes they came from making people comfortable enough to talk.

People revealed more when they thought they were impressing you.

So I went back.

Not as someone searching for information.

As Lorenzo Alessi.

The moment Adrian opened the door and saw me, his expression changed.

Surprise.

Then recognition.
