Lorenzo was still waiting when I arrived.
He was leaning against his car, arms crossed, looking far too calm for someone who had just uncovered something that could change everything.
I got out and looked toward the house.
"That's him?"
Lorenzo nodded.
"Adrian Moretti."
I started walking.
"Liam."
I stopped.
"What?"
"Don't go in there looking for a reason to lose control."
I looked at him.
"I'm looking for answers."
"No."
His expression stayed serious.
"You're looking for something that helps you destroy Marco."
I didn't deny it.
Because he was right.
"I need to know what connects him to Isabella."
"Why?"
"Because Marco doesn't have many weaknesses."
Lorenzo watched me.
"And you think she's one."
"She is."
A pause.
"If Adrian knows how she ended up with Marco, then he knows something Marco is hiding."
Lorenzo sighed.
"You're still thinking about the plan."
"That's the point."
"Liam..."
I looked at him.
"She's not the target."
"No."
My voice hardened.
"But she's the way to him."
Lorenzo was quiet.
Then he said:
"He's scared of us."
I glanced at the house.
"Good."
"No."
I looked back at him.
"He's scared because he knows power. Not because he's innocent."
I said nothing.
Lorenzo continued.
"Use that. Don't waste it."
"I'm not going there to hurt him."
"Good."
"I'm going there to get information."
A small pause.
"That's what I'm hoping."
I almost smiled.
"Five minutes?"
"Five minutes."
"You're giving me a time limit?"
"I'm giving you a reminder."
"Of what?"
Lorenzo looked at me.
"That you're not alone."
I didn't answer.
I walked toward the house.
