The day we meet again

I got out of the car, and grabbed my bag. I got it and put it down in front of the door. "Mom? Where's the key to the house?" "It's in the boot on the left side of the door." I reached down to get the key, put it in the lock, and opened the door.

I opened the door and stepped inside. "It's great to be back." I picked up my bag, walked upstairs to my room and started unpacking my swimsuit and my books. There were not really anything to do, so I started to read. When I'd read about 5 sentences, my mom shouted. "Rose! Come on! Help unpacking!" I put my book down and sighed. "COMING!" I got up from bed and ran downstairs.

When I got out, I took two bags at the same time and put them in the kitchen. Then I got out and got two new ones, and I continued like that until everything was inside the house. "Mom? I'm going out! I'm going to the mountainside to read!" "OK!" I walked up to my favourite place in the mountain, and sat down. I didn't bring my book, but instead sat on the cold rock, listening to music and looking at my surroundings. After a couple of minutes, I could feel my phone buzzing again.

"Down!"
"Under the tree. Now!"

I put my phone back in my pocket, and started walking down towards the garden again. When I got down from the mountain, and close enough to see the huge tree, I could see Cole sitting underneath it. I started to run towards him, and when I got to where he was, I sat down right beside him. "Hi!" I sat with my legs crossed, ad looked right at him. He had a straw in his mouth, for some odd reason, and he also wore a cap. I studied it for a bit, debating with myself weather I should steal it or not. I came to the conclusion that it was too risky, and left it alone. He turned towards me. "Hi!" I realized I wasn't able to meet his gaze, and looked down, picking some grass instead. "So, what's up?" "Nothing really. Just got here. It's so nice being able to actually walk again. You got here really fast! Did you run all the way, or something?" "No, well, I ran down from the mountain, a little hangover, but I used my bike here." I just shook my head. Why would he even get drunk? What's so fun about being drunk? I guess I'll never know.

We just sat there talking, for a bit, and he decided to lay down, and I couldn't help but look at his face. Thankfully, his eyes were closed, so he didn't notice me. Every time I looked at him, I noticed that my heart skipped a beat. I mean, I've always had feelings for him, and quite strong ones as that, but I've never actually looked at his face before. Not really. It's usually been just a few quick glances, and if my heart skipped a beat just by a quick glance, I was really surprised that my heart didn't stop now.

While I was looking at him, he opened his eyes. The second he opened his eyes, I looked down to the ground again. "You're so quiet. What are you thinking about?" I just shook my head again. "Oh, nothing really. As usual." He didn't believe me, I could clearly see that in his eyes. He knew me too well. But he just looked at me and sighed. "Ok." He leaned back again, and shut his eyes once more. For what seemed like an eternity, we sat there in silence. Until my brother came running.

"Hi." My brother came running towards us, and broke the comfortable silence. "Cole, do you know bears and lakes?" Cole just turned his head towards me, with one eyebrow raised and his head tilted. "Huh?" "Bears and lakes is a dice-game. From the number of eyes on the dice, you should be able to tell how many bears, and how many lakes there are. It's a serious pain in the ass, but it's hilarious to watch. You should give it a go." I stuck my tongue out at him and giggled. "Ok, help me up." He reached his hand out to me, and I took it and sighed. "You're helpless, do you know that?" This time, it was he who giggled.

We got up, and walked over to the concrete, so we could roll the dice. Once we'd sat down, I started to explain the rules. "Ok. From the number of eyes on the dice, you should be able to tell how many bears, and how many lakes there are. However, there can be lakes without bears, but there can't be bears without lakes. There's no multiplication, no subtractions, no math, except counting. We're not allowed to help you in any way, we're only allowed to answer yes or no, and what I just said is the only clues you'll get. So, you up for it?" He just looked at me like I was completely bonkers, but started to roll the dice. The eyes showed one 5, and one 3. "Ok. Here it's 2 lakes and 6 bears." Cole raised his eyebrow again, and looked like he wanted me locked up in some kind of mental asylum. I couldn't help but laugh.

We sat there for a while, and Cole didn't get it what so ever. "So, here it's two lakes and two bears." "Ok, you know what...?" He took his cap off and threw it at me. "I bloody hate you." I stuck my tongue out at him again, and laughed. "No, you don't." I threw the cap back at his face, and he started laughing. "Bloody hell, it's freaking warm here! I'm melting. I'll escape into the shadows of the bush." I got up and ran over to a bush three meters from where I just sat. I sat down under it, and felt better at once. I looked back to where my brother and Cole continued the dice-game, and I burst out in laughter. I literally fell to the ground, and tears rolled down my cheeks. I could hear Cole get up, and coming towards me. I was on the ground, gasping for air, and he sat down beside me. "Yeah, yeah. Really funny." "Yes, it is actually." I managed to breathe properly, and sat back up. He started to pick on a straw of some sort, and smacked it against my leg. I just looked at him. I never care about that kind of stuff. It doesn't hurt, so why should I care. "Doesn't it hurt?" "You're slapping a bloody straw against my leg, and afterwards you ask if it hurts, while continuing to hit me with it? Really? No, it doesn't hurt."

"So, what were you doing before you got here, anyway?" "I was in Edolas. Were there for about a week." "What were you doing there!? That place is full of weirdoes!" he started laughing, and I pretended I was offended. "Excuse me?! One fourth of my family's from there!" "That's exactly my point!" I couldn't help but look offended for real this time. I crossed my arms, my leg and turned away from him with a "HUMPF!" When I turned away, I could see him falling to the ground and this time he was the one laughing so much that he got tears in his eyes. I turned back around to face him, and hit his arm hard. Then I started laughing as well. I couldn't help it.

After a while, it started to get boring just sitting in the shade, so we got up and started walking up the mountainside. There's a waterfall just up a hill, and we got there and started climbing up the slippery rocks. I had some troubles getting up, because my shoes didn't help that much, so I decided that I would sit down, so I didn't fall head first down the waterfall. Cole continued climbing a bit, then he turned and saw that I had stopped. "SHOW-OFF!" I shouted to him and laughed. He came back down and sat down beside me. "Give me your hand." I reached out my hand and he pulled my sleeve up and started stroking the inside of my arm. "Say stop when I reach the inside of your elbow." I closed my eyes, and said stop when I felt his fingerin the inside of my elbow. "Stop." I opened my eyes, and saw I had said stop at the exact time I was supposed to. Cole looked at me, and smiled. "How did you manage to do that?" I smiled back, and shook my head. "Dunno."
