"Get the fück off her before I wring your fücking neck."

Immediately, the perpetrator released me and I got up and ran into Caerus' arms. He held me tightly while stroking my hair. I cried into his chest, staining his T-shirt with my tears.

He came for me.

If it weren't for him, who knows what would've happened?

"If it isn't little Caerus to the rescue?"

Caerus' body tensed. I pulled away to see that Caerus was beyond pissed at the man. His jaw tightened and his fists were clenched. I tried to calm him down but it was pointless.

"What the hell are you doing here Marco?" His voice was nothing calm.

Marco grinned deviously, staring at Caerus as if he was teasing him. This Marco was trouble. It was the first I've ever seen Caerus so riled up and trust me when I tell you I did not like the looks of it.

"Can't I come visit like the rest of you?" He mocked. "Besides....we have some catching up to do. Don't we....little brother."

My mouth literally fell open. Did I hear him correctly? Little brother? Caerus had a big brother.

"You are nothing to me!" Caerus growled at him. Marco laughed it off like it was nothing.

"Come on Caerus, that was years ago. What do you say we bury the hatchet? I give you something and you return the favor."

"What do you want Marco?"

Marco bore into Caerus' eyes...then his gaze turned to me.

"I want your friend over there."

My breath hitched. Caerus threw his arm out to shield me from Marco. He could sense my uneasiness and he loved it judging by his devious smile. It was as if Marco fed off my fear. Why did he want me? I couldn't fathom.

"You go nowhere near her!" Caerus' voice was firm and threatening.

Marco took a few bold steps towards Caerus until they were face to face. Caerus' glare never wavered even as Marco hardened his face to seem threatening.

"If you didn't come so soon, I would've given your girl the fück of her-"

There was a loud echo in the room as Caerus' fist collided with Marco's face. Marco fell to the ground, holding his nose and moaning in pain.

Caerus didn't stop there.

He knelt over Marco and continued throwing punches at his face. He repeated hitting him, each one coming down with more force. I had to stop it. I had to do something to stop him.

I took a step forward to stop them when something caught my eyes.

Blood.

The sight of it made me panic. I felt like I was about to pass out. I had to stop this. I had to. I took a deep breath and mustered up all my courage. Quickly, I ran to Caerus, gripping his bicep and pulling him away from an almost dying man.

He wouldn't move. He was too strong that even when I pulled him with all my strength he was still firmly planted to that spot. I didn't even think about what came out of my mouth next.

"Caerus, stop!" I pleaded. "You're going to kill him. Caerus stop it please!"

As if my words had brought him to realization, he quickly removed himself from a groaning Marco...too in pain to get up.
