"Do you dye your hair?"

"Yes. Now shut up." I reply while copying notes from the board.

"I didn't know shops sold such ugly hair dye. How cheap was it? I'm thinking maybe I'll dye my dog that colour next Halloween," Alex says tauntingly.

"I lied, its all natural. Woolworths doesn't really sell such a beautiful shade of red," I retort. I'm sitting in my Chemistry next to Mr Hot-shot himself, and all he can do is tease me. I am seriously considering punching him and it has only been ten minutes. I desperately hope he will zip his mouth shut.

No such luck. Alex snorts at my reply and then says, "I wouldn't have tortured my dog like that anyway. People might have mistaken him for a fire hydrant."

"Shut up," I exclaim and he looks up at me innocently, giving the impression he was writing notes the whole time. Mr Chester looks at me angrily, his face becoming red.

"You came into this class half way through the term and now think that you can harass other students and further disrupt my class?" He shouts at me.

Before I can stop myself, I stand and exclaim. "It's not like I wanted to move here, and furthermore Alex was the one harassing me."

"Are you asking for trouble?" Mr Chester asks, the veins in his neck bulging out. "Do not talk back to me!"

"But I was just-" I shrink back at his sharp tone.

"Enough! Both you and Mr Brookes will join me in detention this afternoon," He informs us before strolling back to the front of the classroom. I almost protest before realising that I don't want to die.

"Thanks heaps, Lara," Alex mutters, under his breath and I look at him in outrage. What a hypocrite. I simmer in my seat until the bell rings, signalling the end of my torture. I jump up in glee and then pick up my books, racing out of the classroom. I don't even spare a glance at Alex.

As I run out of the classroom, I bump right into Lexi. She smiles at me brightly and says,"Hey girl! I haven't seen you all day!"

"Hi! I had to print an assignment out at recess so I didn't come to sit with you guys." I say, when, in reality, I was in the library reading a book. I just didn't feel like sitting with people today, which is very odd considering it is me. The most outgoing, people-lover ever... Well at least I used to be- before I moved here.

"Well you can sit with us now," Lexi says, pulling me in the direction of the canteen before I can even protest. "Do you have lunch?"

"Yeah." I reply.

"Well you can stand with me while I buy mine," she says and stands in the long line. She digs around in her pocket and then her deep blue eyes open wide. "Oops... I left my money in my locker. Be right back. Wait in the line for me!"

I don't even have a chance to agree before she runs away. I sigh and shuffle awkwardly in the line, still holding my chemistry book. Oh Lexi... She really is something else with her long black and purple hair and nose piercing. In reality she is bubbly and seems to light up whenever she talks. You can't help but smile when she is around.

When I hear a cough, I turn to my left and see a guy's chest. I continue looking upwards until I see a very handsome looking boy. He has straight, dark hair and blue eyes, and is well... extremely good looking. He flashes me a smile and I somehow get the edges of my mouth to twitch upwards.

"Do you mind moving forward?" he asks and I turn back around. Realising the line has moved forward about a metre, I scramble forward and blush.

"Sorry," I mumble, feeling like a complete fool.
