Louis' P.O.V.
Steam was practically blowing out of my ears as I hastily made my way through the beautiful nature surrounding me. My mind was racing with what happened back at the cottage with Richard. He had the audacity to knock on my front door and offer me marriage. Me! Me married to that insensitive, brainless oaf?! Oh, could you imagine it? Mister Louis Hanson, Richard's little housewife. No way! Not going to happen!
When I noticed my surroundings, I began jogging down the little path that led to this place I discovered years ago when we first moved to this town. It wasn't much. It was just this stone bridge that was arched over a small river that cascaded down a path that led somewhere I have never been before; I'm guessing it led to this big layout of water. Even though it wasn't much to look at, I always marveled at how peaceful and quaint it seemed.
A shaky sigh left my slightly parted lips when I reached the cobble stone bridge. I slowly made my way to the middle of it and rested my hands upon the slightly battered stone wall of the bridge, my eyes staring down at the rushing water, some yellow and red leaves being carried with the small waves. I wish I could travel so easily with those leaves, going through different scenarios of adventure as I would allow the small waterfall to carry me away. Why does life have to be so ordinary? Why can't I live in a world with adventure and with someone who understands? People from my boring, small town think doing everything scheduled and ordinary is what life is about. They just don't see what's so wrong with the world they live in. People planning someone else's life, constant arguing, boring routines; that's not how things should be. I sighed in misery and disappointment, leaning my arm against the edge of the bridge while I rested my chin in the palm of my hand, my eyes never leaving the nature that was ever so beautiful.

I don't know how long I was standing in the same spot on this bridge, but I had a feeling it was more than two hours. I could tell that it was starting to get darker, what with the iridescent atmosphere that was showing in the sky. I had to get home to attend to Uncle Waltur. With one last lingering glance at my surroundings, I walked away from where I was standing to get off the bridge.
As I was walking in the same direction I came, something caught my attention. In the corner of my eye, I could see something a good distance away from where I was; the trees only covering the unknown object slightly. Me being the curious lad that I am, courtesy to me mum, I decided to investigate what was hiding behind those trees. I took cautious steps away from the dirt trail I was following and walked into the massive amount of trees leading to what was so interesting to me. All the many years I have walked passed this area, I've never noticed this before, so why was it so captivating to me now? The atmosphere seemed to be getting darker as I continued to get deeper into the mangled and rotted trees. Dead leaves and decaying roots were crunching under my feet.
I soon started to get a clearer image of what had so suddenly drawn me to it. My eyes widened in astonishment at what was in my view.
It was a house. Well, it was much more bigger than any ordinary house, but it wasn't like a mansion or anything. It was bulit of these dark brown bricks that seemed to be stained and weathered down, making it obvious that the building was old. Vines were growing on one side of the house all the way up to the roof top, some of the leaves spreading out to another expanse of the house. The old Victorian-style house looked vacant, hence the condition it was in, but I had to investigate the large building myself. There was this small voice in the back of my mind, however, that was constantly telling me not to go in there, which could possibly someone's private property. Though, my curiosity overpowered my better judgment because I found myself walking towards the entrance of the house.
I took cautious steps towards the short set of stairs that were on the side of the house. As my right foot put pressure against the first step, a loud creaking noise followed, but I just continued to climb them slowly, making sure to be extra careful so I wouldn't end up breaking a step. When I reacted the wooden door, the paint of it chipped away, I made an attempt to knock on it. However, I remembered that this unknown house seems to be completely abandoned, so I just took the golden door handle in my hand and twisted it to open the door. The door opened, unsurprisingly, and I pushed it slightly to open all the way, the handle hitting against a wall with a soft thud. I walked into the house, keeping the door open behind me.
"Hello?"
I walked into the dark house, the only light source being a few lit candles here and there around the walls. I looked to my left and saw a wall full of dusty pictures, and looking to my right, I saw the same thing. Straight ahead, there are a long spiral of oak wood steps that leads to the second story of the ominous house. I spoke again.
"Hello? Anyone here?"
There was some movement in the flames of the many candles, but I didn't think anything of it. As I decided to take cautious steps towards the staircase, a loud, booming voice hollered at me. "You should not be here!"
I gasped and jumped at the sudden uproar, pulling my hoodie around myself tighter as if it were to protect me. "I-I'm sorry. I just saw this house and it see-seemed emp-"
"LEAVE!"
I screeched and spun around to run out of the creaky front door, not bothering to close it behind me. I ran down the short amount of steps, ignoring the loud noises they were making as I slammed my feet onto them, and headed straight for the cluttered path I took. However, I stopped and dared to look back at the house. Standing right in the opening of the front door, there was the stranger. I couldn't see his features well because of the distance between the house and myself. Though I could see that he was tall and his eyes were staring into my soul with the most dark look on his face, and that caused me to turn away and run as fast as I could go to my Uncle and my safe cottage.
