Author's POV.

Noni and Yams went straight to lunch after Mr. Wesley 's literature class.
Both the girls talked on and on about Noni's new neighbor, classes, and boys in general.
After that they left the Cafe and headed to their next class that they wouldn't be having together.

"Well looks like this is my stop girl" Yams said with a frown on her face because she knew this is where the fun with her best friend had to come to an end.

"Alright, enjoy my dear. I'll see you after class." Noni smiled to ensure her friend they'll be together again in no time.

"Ditto." Yams winked. then began to walk inside but then Noni called out before she could fully enter the class causing her to look back.

"Aye Yams, my mom is having a cookout thing Saturday. Think you can slide by and keep me company with all her old friends and my crazy family?" Noni rolled her eyes and chuckled.

"Duhhhhhh. You had me at cookout." Yams laughed.

"Hungry ass." Noni laughed and shook her head and started walking off to her own class. "Bye babe."

"Byeeeee." Yams laughed and walked into her class.

Noni's POV.

"MOOOOOOM. Did you borrow my yellow blouse?", I yelled out to my mom from upstairs in my room where I had made a tornado of a mess on my room floor. I wasn't normally worried about what to wear but my mom invited the boy next door over and I couldn't look crazy. I just couldn't!
"MOTHER!"

"Hush now, Kitten!  Your blouse isn't with me." My mom said from in the hallway.

"Mooom.. This is important" I whined, continuing to search.

"Kitten, wear your tank and some shorts, It's 300 degrees.. You won't need a blouse." She said giggling while walking into my room. "How come its so important?"

"That's not cute.. And because.. I haven't seen Uncle & Auntie in so long. I want to look beautiful." I whined, flopping on my bed.

"Sweetie, you always look beautiful." Mom came and gave me a a kiss on the forehead and ran her fingers through my wild curls trying to tame them. "Ohh..my Kitten, smile. Mommy loves you." she kissed my forehead once more and left my room, being followed by the puppies to wherever she was headed.

I smiled. She always makes me feel better when she wants to. "Love you too.."
[Hour Later]

I was in our backyard sitting in a beach chair with Yams next to me by the pool. We were just sitting in silence letting the smooth sound of Lana Del Rey keep us company while my mom and her friends and a few of my family members were in the front laughing and having a wonderful time while my uncle threw meat on the grill. I wanted to stay in the back because I was tired of my aunt ranting on about how my hips were making me such a woman that it scared her and plus I didn't really want to see that boy. Today wasn't my cute day.

"I just riddddeeee.." Yams sang out, harmonizing with Lana.

"I just riiiidddeeee.." I sang as I stood up, pulling a loose curl behind my ear and picking up my empty wine glass. I looked at Yam who had her eyes closed just vibing out, I was about to ask her if she wanted some more to drink but she looked so peaceful as her purple hair pooled around her and the Sun made her skin shine. She was really pretty that sometimes I envied. I smiled and walked into the house going straight to the kitchen and searching for some more wine. My two puppies ran in and out of the house, excited to have company over.
