Calling: Lawn-A(:
Miles waited for Lana to pick up the call. Usually she'd answer pretty quickly, she always had her phone with her whether in her hands scrolling or typing away or in one of her pockets. It never left her sight no matter what.
Two minutes went by of ringing and no answer. Miles figured he just try and call again, maybe her phone was off. He waited five minutes and still no answer, just that same ringing.
The fourth time he tried was when her voicemail came on.
'hey, sorry i couldn't answer the phone! i'm with the bestest- me! i'm the bestest- and that's miles! we're hanging out but i'll call back when i have time- with me, lana have time when the u.s changes miles to kilometers, get it! cause my name's miles and the u.s speed thingymathing is miles!- okay but i'll call back don't worry just message me at the beep, bye! say bye miles- byeee!'
It seemed like yesterday Lana and him were in her bedroom trying to set up her new phone, when in reality it was only two years ago. They put all of her old contacts in and Miles was in charge of actually putting them in her phone while Lana read them off. When his number came up he immediately put in his nickname and the 'backwards smile' as Lana called it.
They had everything else done and finished but the voicemail was their last objective. After a good hour of weird then sophisticated voices they finally made the one she still had.
Miles didn't know why she still used it, didn't she hate him? He practically abandoned her last year and left her on her own.
He didn't want to, he just wanted to keep her safe. But in the end all he did was the exact opposite of what he wanted for Lana.
Miles decided to try and call one last time, to see if she would answer unlike the previous ones.

Calling: Lawn-A(:
'hey, sorry i couldn't answer them ph-'
Miles hung up the call and turned his phone off and tossed it to the side. Why wasn't she answering?
He looked out his window, it was directly opposite of the window to Lana's room. The blinds were shut and the lights weren't on. Maybe she was just out and forgot her phone? That happens sometimes, you forget something.
But Lana was never one to forget important things, her phone was one of them.
Something didn't add up right and Miles didn't like it. Sadly his mother called him down for dinner so he couldn't think more. He wanted think during dinner but his parents kept talking and including him in the conversations so he didn't get the chance.
As he went up to his room to head to bed, he grabbed his phone and sent a quick text to Lana.
