"I said back off, dumb-ass."
"Sorry, I came to see if she was awake yet."
"Nope,"
"Yeah I can see. Can I just..."
"Nope,"
"Dude, what are you, the Talia-Police?"
"Nope,"
"Ugh, I swear, when you finally need a toilet break, you'll come back to every single one of us sitting around her. You aren't her only friend you know? Most of us have known her for much longer than you have."
"Hmm, good for you; now back the hell off before I punch you."
"You're an ass."
"That's your opinion. I bet if you asked Lia, she wouldn't say that I'm an ass."
"Stop being an ass, Reece." I murmured. I opened my eyes to see a blurry Alex standing at the foot of the bed I was currently taking residence in. "Hah, Alex, I thought you were Carolyn."
"Wow, only you could take my side in an argument and insult me at the same time." Alex huffed although he did look pleased. Reece on the other hand looked pissed.
I sat up, feeling much better already although I had completely forgotten about the events that had taken place the eve before.
"Reece, what happened? How did I get into this bed? We didn't- Oh god, tell me we didn't." I was mortified. Maybe I had gotten drunk and then this whole thing was just a crazy dream and Reece wasn't even real. Maybe I was still in hospital hallucinating things.
Reece frowned.
"Not that I would classify that as a bad thing, but no we didn't. You healed Jeremy after Katia insisted that you continue although you were dying. You had blood coming out of your nose so I wanted you to stop. So now mister three-broken-ribs is walking around like nothing happened and you're bed-ridden." Reece explained. I was the one frowning now as I heard the names. I had never ever in my life met a Jeremy or a Katia.
"I think that when someone is dying, I pass my life force on to them which I why I pass out all the time. Maybe if everyone would stop getting themselves into deathly situations just because I am at hand then I wouldn't have to keep giving away my life force like some sort of free sample." I snipped.
Alex snickered at my comment and I death stared him which made him hoot with laughter even more.
"Well looks like the wicked witch of the west is back in business. Look at that death stare, bit less bite than usual but we are out of apples at the moment so..." I threw a pillow at him as he ducked out the door, leaving me and Reece alone.
"I understand that you wanted to stay with me, but Alex was totally right. He has been with me in more ways than one for years, as has his mother and.... Oh my god is Carolyn back? Is she ok? I can't believe it; I forgot all about them, I'm the worst friend in the history of the universe."
I covered my mouth and felt tears welling up in my eyes. The fact that Reece didn't come and comfort me and tell me that everything was ok made my point even more valid. I broke out into hysterical sobs and attempted to cover my head with the blanket.
"Lia...They aren't coming back."
"What the hell do you mean they aren't coming back?" That made me cry even more and I sank back down into the bed and curled into a tight ball. How was I supposed to keep myself together now? I basically told them to go without any protection and now I had gotten them killed- or something even worse than that.
