Amon didn't know when he first realized it, But now as he was sitting at his desk overwhelmed with paper work he found himself staring across the room at the Senior Investigator- Kureo Mado.
Kureo's back was turned to Amon, But he was sitting in such away that Amon was able to see the side of his face, There was a look of concentration splayed across Kureo's features, and the way his white hair fell into his face cast a shadow across it that made him look younger, and more mysterious. If Amon had to name a reason for why he felt drawn to Kureo he would have to say that it was in fact the mysterious nature of this man, At the end of each day, each long day spent in the company of Kureo, Amon still knew nothing about him, and he was dying inside to know more.
Amon looked up at the clock; 1.15, He breathed a heavy sigh it had only been ten minutes, but it felt like an eternity had been spent at this desk. He felt a terrible itch inside his chest, he just wanted to be out of this office, he wanted to be walking the streets of Tokyo in the company of Kureo.
"Did you say something?" Kureo said, looking up from his paper work.
"N- no, s-sorry sir, i didn't mean to bother you." Amon stammered an apology.
"Bother me? Hardly boy, an old man is not meant to spend the remaining years of his life cooped up inside."
Kureo let out a chuckle at the end, but Amon couldn't help but frown, He didnt want to ever imagine or think about Kureo dying.
"Come on, lets take a break from this, Would you like to go get a bite to eat?" Kureo asked, mistaking Amons frown for agreement.
I'd like to take a bite out of you Amon thought, feeling his face get warm.
"You look a bit flushed anyway, why don't we go out and get some air." Kureo said pulling on his jacket. Amon followed suite.
There was a narrow door that led from the office out onto the streets, Amon took this opportunity to let his hand brush up against the side of Kureo's buttocks, He let hit rest there only for a moment but the feelings it elicited inside amon would last for a life time. Amon let Kureo take the lead, He decided it would be better to hang back and admire the view, and man was it a nice view. For an old man Kureo had a nicely shaped rump, all-bit the left side seemed a bit lumpy, amon chalked that up to sitting for too long, But from the feel of it, it was nice and firm.
"What are you hanging back for boy? Come and join and old man." Kureo called back.
Smon jogged to catch up, embarrassed that he had let his emotions get in the way of his professional attitude. "Sir if i may say, you are not old."
"How kind of you boy, But i am indeed an old man. But its not so bad, i have had a lot of experiences." Kureo said casually.
Amon could feel his cheeks growing hot again You should show me what you have experienced he thought. I have got to quit doing that, Amon thought, But he couldn't help but glance down, admiring Kureo's package.
The place Kureo took Amon was just a little corner restaurant that served noodles, They ordered and then Kureo led Amon to a table in the corner. Kureo began speaking, but whatever words he spoke were lost upon Amon. Amon stared at Kureo, He was entranced by this man, How the ages had beaten him down, but he was resilient. His poor Kureo baby must have had a hard life, But still Kureo devoted his life to protecting the unworthy filth that walked the streets, unaware of Kureo's brilliance.
As kureo talked animatedly a thin strand of hair fell across his face, Without thinking Amon reached across the table and tucked the hair behind Kureo's ear.
Kureo paused in his speech staring at Amon bewildered, Amon couldn't help but blush.
"You some kind of f-ggot?" Kureo asked suddenly.
"N-no,"Amon stammered,"i don't know why it did that."
Kureo stared at Amon for a minute more, But when the food arrived Kureo seemed to have forgotten the whole incident.
This is what Amon loved about kureo, The man was not constrained by any political or social issues, He was a bold man who spoke his thoughts freely without ever worrying about anyonesthoughts or feelings. If Amon was water, Than Kureo was a rock, solid, dependable, not moving but ever changing. Just the way Kureo said f-ggot, such a simple word, But in Kureo's mouth it was so much more. With that one word Kureo was able to convey generations of ideology, principle and thought.
Amon leaned over his bowl of noodles and began eating, As he slirped up a noodle he couldn't help but imagine it was Kureo's.
