The next day was spent in silence. I didn't see Abby once. She stayed cooped up in her room the entire day, not even coming out to get breakfast or lunch. It hurt. Her blatant attempt to avoid me. I understood the situation was a bit...uncomfortable but was this really necesarry? She was acting as if I kicked her puppy. No, no it wasn't right for me to say that either, she had every right to react the way she did if...if she saw me as just her step-brother. I hoped that wasn't the case. There was a part of me that feared she only saw and would only ever see me as a brotherly figure but...there was an even bigger part of me that knew she felt something. There had been many times before I left when I could have confronted her but what was I going to say. 'I'm in love with you let's runaway together' She'd think I was insane. No I had a plan, and that was to get her to admit her feelings for me no matter what It took. I had to know.
It was around 7:30 pm, and I was just putting the finishing touches on dinner when I heard it. The soft padding of feet against the hardwood floor. I froze and slowly turned around. There she was. My angel had on a large grey cardigan and black tights. Her feet were bare and I watched as she took the last step and peeked around the corner into the living room. I heard her let out a sigh of what sounded like relief. It wasn't until she turned around did her body tense up again. We locked eyes, and I was pretty sure I looked like an ass. I had borrowed Karen's pink apron, with dancing pies on it so that I wouldn't dirty myself. I was quite the messy cook. My shaggy hair was also in a clip on top of my head because my bangs kept flopping into my eyes. Yes, I definitely looked like an ass.
Apparently Abby thought so too because the next thing I know she was doubled over, clutching her stomach as the hysterics set it. Her light laughter was contagious and I found myself chuckling with her but mostly out of embarrassment.
Eventually our laughter died out and we were left in an awkward silence. I scratched the back of my head preparing to say something, anything, but she beat me to it.
"Please don't...we can just pretend it never happened, okay?" She said, smiling.
"Abby I...okay." I cleared my throat and pointed to the noodles that were boiling in a pot on the stove. "Are you hungry?"
A beautiful smile lit her face and my heart stopped "I'm starving."

"AHHHHHHHH!" Her loud shriek filled the room as she cowered under my arm. I couldn't hold in my laugh if I tried. We were sitting on the couch having a horror movie marathon and it was only 15 minutes into the second movie and she had already screamed three times. Very loudly might I add.
"Wow, angel I think iv'e gone deaf with that last one." I make a show of putting a finger in my ear and scrunching up my face trying to hear. She giggled and punched my shoulder.
"Shut up! That was a scary part." she tried to defend herself.
"They were brushing their teeth." I laughed.
"The camera zoomed in on the mirror like three times, anyone would assume someone's going to pop up behind them!"
"Or you're just a scaredy cat." I shrugged, plopping a handful of popcorn into my mouth.
She gasped causing me to the look at her from the corner of my eye "Take that back." She demanded.
I turned to face her and pretend to think about it before saying "Nope." As soon as the word was out of my mouth she let out a battle cry and launched herself at me. I wasn't prepared for her attack and was knocked off balance. I tried to grab the couch to balance myself but ended up grabbing hold of her shirt, pulling her to the ground with me. I wrapped my arms around her making sure I took most of the fall. After several beats of silence I opened my eyes and found abby's blue eyes connected with mine. Her legs were on either side of me, her heat directly above my crotch. How many times had I pictured her exactly where she was now, straddling me. Too many to count. Suddenly she shifted and I groaned as she rubbed against me.
She froze "Are you alright?! I'm so sorry James I didn't mean to tackle you like that-" I covered her mouth with my hand to stop her insistent rambling, even if I found it extremely adorable. Her warm breath tickled my hand, producing a small shiver from me. God, the effect she had on me was unbelievable.
"Your'e full of surprises aren't you sweetheart?" I teased feeling genuinely surprised by the strength this small angel of mine possesed.
Her cheeks reddened and I watched as she became a shy quiet mess. "What? Not gonna gag me too?" I laughed as her face turned red like a tomato. I sat up on my elbows, nearly bumping my nose against hers. "I'm just kidding. Are you alright?" I asked checking her over. I placed my hands on her hip and her breath hitched. "Are you hurt?" I lifted her shirt before she could respond and saw nothing but her beautiful milky skin. My hands had a mind of their own as my fingers brushed her hip, feeling her soft skin.
"James..." she whispered my name gaining my attention. I brought my eyes back to hers and saw her watching me through hooded eyes. There was a certain emotion shinning as clear as day in her crystal orbs. Lust. I swallowed the dryness in my throat before humming in response. Her eyes flicked to my lips and I did the same to hers. Was this it? The moment I got to taste her plump looking lips, the ones that I've been dying to kiss for years? Just as I saw her lean towards me a loud feminine scream filled the air causing us both to jump. I forgot the movie was still playing. Abby pushed herself to her feet stumbling slightly before she caught herself. "I-I'm pretty tired. I'm...g-gonna head up to bed." She stammered.
I opened my mouth to protest but she was already running up the stairs, leaving me in the dark with my bloody valentine.
