Chapter 4- Walking into the sunset

I let out an agitated sigh, “you did that because?”

I had never been so pissed off with someone but yet in love with them at the same time. The worst part was, that I had just met him. See, Blake had this way of just doing something stupid and I could instantly melt. If he kissed me again, I would be practically be drowning in my own pool of desperation; metaphorically of course.

“Look, you probably think I’m this complete stereotypical douche bag, but I’m not. I wanted to prove to you that I’m not. You looked like you were going to leave, so I kissed you.”

“Because that makes perfect sense.” I replied sarcastically.

“Well you’re still here, so it must have worked.”

“Touché.” I said. “Well I should probably get going.”

“Let me walk you home.” He replied.

“I barely even know you.”

“I’m just Blake.. remember?”

I moaned, “You’re not going to give up are you?”

He shook his head no.

“So is this your way of saying you’re attracted to me?” I asked.

Samantha Mae, did you really just say that out loud? Did you really just ask a boy that you met an hour ago if he was attracted to you? You’re a dumb ass. He probably thinks you’re crazy now, which will not be in your advantage. You’re already a loser, he could make it even worse.

I found myself having an internal dialogue with myself while Blake hesitated to answer.

“More like little innuendo.”

I looked at him. He flipped his gorgeous hair out of his face and gave me this ‘I know you want me, but I’d rather just kill you with my face’ looks. Yes, that is a real look as of now. I felt his hand brush up against mine. His wrist swept past my knuckles, making one of those awkward and unnecessary intimate moments.

“Can I ask why you’re making such a big effort to talk to me?”

“Well Sam, I feel the need to introduce you to the fun things in life.”

“Are you implying I’m not fun?” I asked.

“I don’t think that you’re not fun, I’m saying you don’t know how to have fun.”

I folded my arms, “That is not true.”

“Name one fun thing you have done in the past year.” He said.

Okay, so maybe it was true, but that doesn’t mean anything. We were almost at my house, which was a little upsetting because for once in my life, I was talking to a guy. Not just a guy though, Blake. Why the hell was I so crazy about him? He practically forced me to go on a date with him, called me stubborn, kissed me, followed me home, and somehow found a way to insult my idea of fun. Awesome.

He let out a small chuckle, “live a little.”

“Funny, my friend said the same thing before we came to the beach.”

He playfully nudged me, “It’s a sign.”

I was laughing until I realized we were at my house. The lights were on, so that meant Brandon probably had a girl over.

“So when can I see you again?” He asked.

“How cute, you think I want to see you again.” I teased.

“We’re going to hang out the rest of summer and I’m going to teach you how to have fun.”

“Goodnight Just Blake.” I called out from my porch.

“Night Sam.”

I watched as Blake walked into the sunset (not actually, he was just walking off in that direction. Just in case any of you were confused). I stepped inside my house and quietly  passed Brandon’s room. The sound of exasperated moans were coming from the bedroom. Gross.

I jogged up the small flight of stairs that led to my room. I could hear the waves crash through my open window. Since it was the first night of summer, I could at least make the most of it. I pulled out my phone and called Nat.

“Hello?” She answered.

“Hey, you want to sleepover tonight. Brandon has a girl over and I would rather not have to listen to that.”

“Gross, but sure. I will be right over.”

The line went dead. I slid off my bed and plugged in my phone so it could charge. I never realized how slow time went when I was bored. I considered texting Blake, but didn’t want to seem to desperate. Life was complicated.

Within ten minutes, Nat was crawling through the window of my room.

“I have a door you know.” I said.

“Eh, doors are too cliché.”

We both plopped down on my bed and watched some stupid show on disney channel. I constantly thought about texting Blake. I looked over at Nat, who had fallen asleep with her phone practically glued to her body.

*Compose New Message*

To: Just Blake

I had fun tonight. Thanks for attempting to break my shell of social awkwardness. Just one question.. Any other innuendos I should know about?

*Send*

I nuzzled up in my blankets with my phone in hand, much like Nat. I was anxious to wake up to a message from Just Blake. Maybe this boy would be a good thing for me.
