I Promise

Chapter Four

"Hey mom. Uuh... I'm in Colorado and I need your address." I say to my mom over the phone, "Oh sure baby." She responds. We both hang up and she texts me her address. I'm only twenty minutes away from her house in Greely. I finally arrive and my trip is finally over! Before I get out of the car I get a text from my mom, "Is he with you?" So I text back, "No that's why I came over so unexpectedly." I get out of the car and I ring the doorbell, my dad opens the door and we hug and I walk in. When I do their little pug named Sunny runs to me. "Aww hi little guy." I say reaching down to pet him. "Where'd you get him?" I ask picking him up, "Your friend gave him to us as a gift." My mom says walking towards me, she hugs me and I ask, "Wait, which friend?" "Courtney." She answers. "Ooh... I missed her so much! Where does she live?" I ask. "We don't really know, but you two were so close that when we moved here she always visits us because we remind her of you." My dad answers.

I bring my bags in from the car and I sit down on their couch. "Soo... where is he?" My mom asks looking directly at me, I knew who she was talking about. "We got a divorce... finally." I respond. "How could he do such a shitty thing to a woman?! No one should ever hit their spouse for stupid reasons!" My dad says not yelling but clearly aggrivated. I'm trying to find a right time to tell them the news of my upcoming baby.
While we're watching T.V a pregnancy test commercial comes on and I hear my mom say, "When are you gonna have kids Theresa?" Perfect. "Well... in nine months..." "Wait... what?! You're pregnant?!" My mom says shocked. I laugh and say, "Yep!" "Oh my god!" She says getting up and she hugs me. This is how it should be when someone announces that their pregnant, with love and hugs, NOT hate and strikes.
