I wish I could say I woke up gracefully and beautifully.
But instead, I fell off my bed entangled in my sheets knocking down my lamp.
I grabbed the phone and answered ready to curse the absolute fuck out of whoever interrupted my peaceful slumber.
"Adrianna!!" I internally groaned at the sound of my supervisors voice.
"Good morning Diana." I say in my sleep ridden voice, not meaning a word of it.
"I'm still in London, I need you to take over as manager this week, can you do that for me?"
I suddenly perked up at the sound of that. "What?!?" I say completely in shock.
"I really need you at this meeting I have today, it's about our secret weapon, remember?"
Our rival fashion designing company Modern Looks was planning to unleash 'The Outfit Of The Century' of course pushing us to begin designing a secret weapon to knock them off their feet.
I secretly envied them because of their utterly attractive manager Travis Miller. According to rumors... He was way nicer than my current manager Diana Powell and that black hair and blue eyes could stop hearts from miles away.
Now although I managed to work my way up to head designer, Diana seemed to do anything in her power to avoid losing her privilege as manager. No one liked her anymore, she lost her 'fire'. They needed someone new and young, here I was. Yet I still wasn't manager.
So of course I jumped on this opportunity right away.
"Yeah, sure no problem." I say beginning to untangle myself from the sheets and placing my lamp back where it belongs.
"Great! It starts in about 40 minutes at the office, don't be late. Bye!" She said hastily hanging up.
I groaned in frustration throwing my phone on my bed before running into the shower. The office was a 20 minute ride in the subway from my house, not to mention it takes me ages to get ready.
After getting ready, I left my brunette hair down while it was still wet, put on my favorite scarf and ran out of my loft going towards the nearest subway station when I spotted a Starbucks.
I checked my watch, shrugging my shoulders heading off into the direction of the coffee shop.
After buying my iced coffee I realized I had about 2 minutes before the train left. I ran across the street, down the stairs before seeing the train doors beginning to close.
"No, no wait!" I shouted picking up the pace before a book was placed between the doors stalling them from closing fully.
It was open just a crack but it was wide enough for me to enter before the doors shut.
As I was catching my breath so I could thank the kind stranger for keeping the door open for me the train suddenly lurched forward, causing me to lose my balance, falling and spilling my coffee all over the clothes of the person who helped me manage to get on the train in the first place.
"I am so sorry!" I say my face flushing in embarrassment attempting to help clean up the spill.
"Don't worry about me, you're the one whose lost her coffee." The black haired, gray eyed stranger said with an amused look on his face.
He had a light British accent coating his voice, which you could only catch when he said certain words. He had a white shirt stained with my coffee with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows and a laptop case strung around his shoulder. He had black dress pants with work shoes on. And he was holding the book he used to keep the doors open for me, I couldn't quite read the title however.
The top part of his white shirt was completely stained in coffee and there was no way I was going to let him walk out of this train looking like a hot mess because of me.
"Where are you headed? Maybe I could-" I began.
"No no. It's fine really I'm late for work anyway." He said in an attempt to dry off the remaining coffee.
"Well..." I say an idea suddenly coming to mind as I removed my unisex colored scarf placing it on him to hide the stain. "There you go." I say with a smile.
"How am I supposed to give it back to you, I don't even know your name." He said raising an eyebrow.
"My name is Adrianna and..." I say writing my number on a page from my sketchbook before ripping it out. "This is my number." I finished, handing it to him.
"You really don't have to do that." He says beginning to hand me back my number and scarf.
"No!" I protested. "I insist I cannot have you going to work showing off a coffee stain from some random girl on the subway."
"Well it's not really a problem if the random girl was very attractive and was willing to go on a date with me." He said a smirk tugging at his lips.
Suddenly the train stopped and he began to gather his things.
"This is my stop." He said walking out. Placing my number in his book to which I was finally able to read the title.
"I didn't catch your name!" I yelled back.
"I never threw it." He said smugly walking off before the train doors closed.
I grabbed an empty seat before the train started again.
The only thing running through my mind at the moment was.
Did I just meet a man reading a fashion guide for new head designers for dummies edition on a subway?
