The horrors of Derry were put behind the Losers Club. Beverly and Ben got married living a happy life together. Mike was finally able to put everything to rest and left Derry. Richie continued doing his stand-up comedy, living his best life for Eddie.
And Bill?
He learned how to finish his book.
He was in the middle of writing the end when Mike called him. The two talked for a moment before he told Bill about the letter Stanley left for them. He cried when he finished reading it when there was a knock on his office door. Bill set the letter down as his wife entered his office. His brows crinkled when he saw her cradling a baby in her arms.
"I didn't know we were babysitting your niece," he said as he stood.
She shook her head. "No, it's just the most awful thing," she began. "Someone just left this bundle of joy outside our house."
"They just abandoned their baby?" Bill asked in disbelief as he made his way over. "Did the parents leave a note or anything?"
"No. I've checked around the basket."
Bill carefully grabbed the baby from her arms. "Hi, sweetie," he cooed as he moved the blanket away from the baby's face. He froze. The first thing he spotted was how blue the baby's eyes were. So familiar, so inviting, it made his breathing hitch when the baby girl looked up at him. "Jenny?" He breathed. The baby smiled.
"What are we going to do, Bill?" the wife asked. "Someone abandoned their baby."
He knew they should have called the cops and taken the girl into an orphanage, but Bill had this strong feeling in his chest.
"Let's keep her," he said, surprising his wife. "Honey, we don't know what they do to kids in those places. She needs a loving family to be there for her." He smiled at the baby. "I think we have what it takes to raise her."
The wife laid her head against his shoulder. "What about your book? The movie?"
"I'll make time, I promise."
She let out a happy sigh, giving in. "What should we name her?"
Bill did want to name her Jenny. It was the first name that came to mind. But he thought of another one. A perfect name to match the baby's red hair. "How about...Scarlett?"
