"Spring break is almost over for our little town, folks, yep, it's a beautiful day here Woodson, Michigan will be cloudy for the day and for the rest of the week, but I'll be your sunshine, Sunshine, hahaha." The radio host announced. He was a bit too chirpy for 6 am.
I rolled over and almost destroyed the radio alarm to shut it up. I rubbed my eyes, dreading the day already. I got up and dragged myself to my bathroom to change. There wasn't much to do after settling into a new town, or in this case, old one. This wasn't our first time in Woodson. But there was something to look forward to, in a week Abby, Kenneth and I would be starting school, again. So for the first day of my "last" week of spring break, I decided to go hunting. I slipped on a shirt, jeans and my black combat boots with a sweater around my waist.
I dashed downstairs and took a seat next to Kenneth who was already watching TV. "Hey, little sis." He said as he ruffled my brown hair. Aww, great now I'll have to detangle this mess.
"Ken, I was born first." I pointed out. As he slung his arm over me.
"Well based on the fact that I'm 19 forever and you are a mere 18 forever. . . Well, Jane, the truth is in the numbers, I'm older."
Abby, who was reading a magazine on the chair, scoffed, "Well if you're putting it that way, sweetie, I'm 19, too, and I was born before all of you."
"Why are you arguing about this, again?" Vincent, our father, asked, he was amused despite his slightly annoyed tone. He put down his book, a smile creeping it's way up his face.
"Oh, Vince, let them bicker, it's adorable." Sara murmured.
"I'm going hunting, " I announced, "Anyone up?" I said as I made my way to the front door.
"Sorry, in doing back to school shopping. "Abby stated.
"I'm going too," Sara said.
"Constructing the game room with Dad," Kenneth said then added mentally, 'AND MORE THAN GLAD TO AVOID SHOPPING.'
A shiver went up my spine, but no one seemed to notice. The small piercing sound began as the thoughts of my family were open to me. I suppressed my abnormality and said, "Oh, ok, see you in a couple." I walked to the door before I went full-on vampire, safe to do so as we were miles away from the nearest town.
Humans, the life before our rebirth, then the beginning of forever, eternity. We look exactly like them, and other than to our strange eye color, super fast speed and immortality and etc, we are like them.
More or less...Probably less.
After a few hours of hunting and a few elk I began to jog back to our massive three-story house with game room basement, we weren't subtle.
When I stopped as I heard shrubs and leaves ruffle at a speed I wasn't sure was natural. I looked around and saw a shadow. When I realized it was not a shadow, it lunged and tackled me to the ground. It was a large black wolf that had attacked me, but it was much larger than the wolves I've hunted, the one who had me pinned to the ground was probably twice the size of a normal one. I looked straight into its eyes and used the distraction of his stare to kick him off me. I flipped myself up to my feet in one move and turned to see the wolf began to glow.
Yep, this isn't normal. Neither am I, but that's not important.
The moment the light died down I turned away to avoid seeing him nude.
"Shit, thanks a lot, steroids! Humans these days!" the boy said. I undid the knot on my sweatshirt and tossed it behind me.
"You decent?" I asked.
