Amber got her foot straight and was better. Jace had told her she needed to obtain a lawyer and sue the doctor who stitched her up. That what he had done to her was a serious mistake and she could have lost her entire foot because of it. Amber considered it but didn't want the hassle.
Amber was getting depressed again. She was not sure if it was because of Benny and she was trying to heal, or if she had depression. Rather than chance it she decided that she was going to find a counselor to help her and the kids out. She knew that both Lily and Parker would need help too. Amber opted to get the psychiatrist that she had when Mitch's father had hurt her.
Ann knew Amber and her past so it would be easier for Amber to dive right in with the new problems she had. Amber made an appointment for a Wednesday.
Amber walked into an unknown office. It had been so long since she had gone to see Ann that she had never been to this office before. Amber arrived early and filled out all the pesky paperwork. After she had done that she watched the fish in the huge salt water tank that came with this office.
After about ten minutes a handsome dark young man exited the door and thanked Ann. Amber watched the man with great interest as he paid and made his next appointment. He smiled at Amber as he slid out the door.
"Amber DeVail." The pretty young receptionist called, when Ann had been ready for her.
Amber stood up and was shaking; she forgot how nerve wracking it was to go to therapy.
"Ah, it is you, Amber." Ann said when she saw Amber enter the room. "You have a new last name."
"That is what happens when you marry a looser." Amber replied
Ann raised her right eyebrow; this made her look kooky, but Amber knew that it ment she was intrigued.
"Do come in and have a seat. As you can see I have a much more comfortable office. How long has it been since we have been face to face?" Ann asked as she flipped back through Amber's chart
Amber did not respond as she had no clue when she had seen Ann last.
It took close to eight months to find Ann the first time. She had gone through three people before she found Ann. She knew instantly that Ann was the right fit for her. For one Ann herself had been in abusive relationship. She understood what affects it has on the psyche. Two she was just a few years older than Amber; Amber liked that and felt she could relate easier to Ann.
"Why don't you begin telling me what you have been up too since I last saw you. Which was in..." Ann was saying as she looked in Amber's old charts."1998. It has been a long time Amber."
Amber started to tell Ann basic things, how and when she met Benny, how Mitch was doing, and how she was doing health wise.
"Why did you really decided that you needed to see me again on a regular basis again?" Ann asked Amber.
"I have been extremely depressed lately. I am not sure why but I want to fix it before it gets too bad." Amber said as a single tear dripped off of her nose.
"You have made a wise choice, we do not need you to be in the state you were when you first saw me. Unfortunately our hour is up for today. I want to see you two to three times a week."
