(Chad's POV)

Stacey?!? What was she doing in Illinois? Last time I saw her, she was on her office table, naked and being pinned down by a shirtless man.

"Chad?", she said.

What? You're gonna act like you never cheated on me?

She approached us and I was shivering.

What was she gonna say? And in front of Cassie too.

"Chad? Looks like you found a new girl? But, your taste must have gone way down after what happened what? 2 years ago?"

What trash is she spouting?

Then, my fear came true. Cassie stood up and talked to her.

"Excuse me, miss?"

No, Cassie, don't talk to that woman.

"Yes?"

Please don't ask, Cassie. Just don't.

"Who are you?"

And she went ahead and did it.

"Oh, he hasn't told you about me? Fine, since Chad is still not man enough to tell you, I will."

Not man enough?!? Who does she think she is?

"The name's Stacey, Stacey Morgan. Chad's ex-girlfriend."

I cringed at the word, ex-girlfriend.

"Yeah, we were together for a year when I finally found somebody better. We broke up and he was broken after that."

Don't act all sweet, you devil. I'm broken because you used me, treated me like trash, cheated on me.

"But, I must say. Chad, did your standards drop THAT low after getting dumped by me? You can do better than this... this small, curveless shrimp."

What the heck is she saying! How dare she talk bad about Cassie like that.

I couldn't hold it in anymore. I stood up, pounded my fist on the table and said angrily,

"Stacey! First of all, you didn't dump me, you CHEATED on me! Second, my standards didn't get low, they went higher. Why? Because my standards before only got me a cheating, self-absorbed woman who never gave a single thought about our relationship. And finally, YOU DO NOT INSULT CASSIE LIKE THAT!"

I felt proud after saying that.

But, I couldn't let Cassie suffer anymore.

"Cassie, get your bag, we're getting out of here."

"But, the food..."

"I don't care, we're leaving. I'm not eating in the same establishment as this... this woman."

"Okay."

She willingly complied and got her bag.

I grabbed her hand, dragged her out of the restaurant and into my car that was parked a few blocks away.

"Chad? What just happened there?"

"I'll explain, but can you give me a minute?"

"Sure."

******

"Stacey and I met 3 years ago, in New York. She had gone to the company I was working in for a business meeting. Anyways, we hung out, I asked her to be my girlfriend, and we had gone out for a solid year before it all happened."

"It was Stacey and I's first year anniversary and I wanted to give her a surprise at work. I bought her a gift and I planned to give it to her before her lunch break and take her out to eat."
