"Stacey..."

"Yeah, Chad, come over. I'll take you back. I am so much better than that shrimp."

What?!?

"What do you take me for? A desperate man?"

"Oh, don't act like you're not, Chad."

Why is she even talking to me?

"Why are you talking to me? Aren't you with your cute, little Nick?"

"What? That old toy? I was done with him over a year ago."

"Oh, did you dump him for another rich man?"

I hung up the phone call and let out an exasperating breath.

The phone began to ring again, the same number popping up. I turned my phone off and started my drive home.

"Nothing, Mom."

"Chad, if there's anything bothering you, you know that your siblings, your father and I will always be here to listen."

"Yeah Mom, I know. Really, there's nothing wrong."

"Okay then. Anyway, Jackson called. He said he tried calling your cell but he couldn't reach you."

"Oh, thanks Mom."

"No problem honey."

"Chad! Where were you?"

"Why couldn't I reach your cell?"

"Sorry man, I turned it off."

"Turned it off? Why?"

"Don't ask man. I've had a rough day today."

"Hmm... How 'bout we go out? Just you and me? To relieve some stress?"

"Jack, I don't think I really want to go out now."

"C'mon, Chad. Live in the moment! Life's too short to waste on things that make you mad."

I hesitated for a moment and reluctantly gave him an answer.

"Fine! But you're driving!"

"Sure, your house at 6?"

"Yeah."
