Sebastian:

The Past (Even before the breakup):

“Thanks for the dinner.” Tess sings as she gave me a peck on my lips.

“You’re welcome” I smirked at her.

“Don’t forget your hospital appointment tomorrow, sweetie” She sings again. She is so wifey, forever remembering what appointment I had, regardlessly a meeting I have at work, or a meeting  I have with my client.

“Yeah.” I laughed.

She closes the car door softly before walking towards the front porch of her well-lit house. She turned for the last time, and grinned ear to ear, waving me a goodbye before walking in. I waited for her front door to be shut before driving back home.

The next day, I drove my car to the hospital. I took the lift and head to the doctors’ offices. As usual, I went into the office of my preferred doctor, Dr. Henworth.

He was dressed in a white coat over him with a spectacles resting on top of his nose to aid his short sightedness.

“Mr Tang, there’s something wrong with your reports.” He said as he looks down on to my report.

“What?” I asked, taking a seat.

He frowned. “Mr Tang, what I am going to tell you, please do not freak out.”

I nodded, knowing I might freak out anyway.

“You’re suffering from liver cancer.” He said, with no emotions in his tone.

“What? Dr. Henworth?! Are you kidding me?” I asked, eyeing him carefully.

“Mr Tang, please seat.” He said.

Every single thing in my mind is Tess. How am I suppose to tell her this? I don’t mind the suffering, but can she take this blow?

I seated back and waited for him to talk.

“Basically, Mr. Tang, Hepatocellular carcinoma is cancer of the liver. Which is what you are suffering from now.” He started. “Hepatocellular carcinoma is not the same as metastatic liver cancer, which starts in another organ and spreads to the liver.” He put his hands together and stood up from his chair walking towards the screen to further explain it to me.

In most cases, the cause of liver cancer is usually scarring of the liver, in other words. It is Cirrhosis. Cirrhosis may be caused by several reasons. In your case, we have given you few scans, through liver biopsy and a liver scan. In your case, it is because of hereditary reasons..”

He pointed to the screen of a human body and used his hands to further describe the cancer to me.

“So,” I waited for his attention. “Is there anything you can do to save me?”
