Somehow, we started hanging out again.
My best friend developed a crush on one of your friends. I think that's how it happened. And, as the universe would have it, your friend liked her back.
Over the summer, we started crossing paths more frequently because our friends were crossing paths more frequently. This was down to my best friend's intricate schemes and your friend's carefully engineered 'chance' encounters.
They weren't fooling anyone, though. Sure, it could have been sheer coincidence that they happened to be at the post office at the same time, or that they just happened to be on exactly the same street at the same time. But what were the chances that this happened five times a week?
I remember once when we were at the local park.
It was mid afternoon, two days after your friend finally mustered up the courage to ask my friend out. To lessen the awkwardness of two fifteen-year-olds going on their first date, they decided to make it a group outing. I didn't quite understand the logic, but I didn't question it either.
We went to the park, where we sat separated by our friends. We didn't talk a whole lot; I suppose the opportunity never arose.
At the end of the afternoon, however, you came up to me, suggesting that we walk home together. You seemed nervous. It was cute.
And so, forgetting that we ever drifted at all, I smiled and said, "Yes."
