"Fifteen minutes Quanni, you got this." I say aloud, convincing myself to complete the last set of paperwork for my assignment.
Aside from the fact that I missed my babies terribly, today was actually really successful. I started out teaching a class at one of the local nursing homes about infection control, then I met my instructor at the hospital to be assigned to my patient. She was a beautiful Black and Dominican eight year old girl named Fallen with a Lupus flare up. She was a tad moody at first but after a few rounds of goldfish and me singing her a song, she came around. I felt like I was back at home with Skye.
"Missing your babies?" My instructor leaned on the opposite side of the counter to talk to me.
"Terribly." I whined putting my head in in my arms on the desk.
"I know the feeling baby girl, it takes time but you'll adjust."
"Look at my babies, they are so adorable." I handed her my phone so she could see the pictures Rich sent me while getting them ready for bed.
Deuce was playing with his feet while Bunni held her hands in the air for Rich. She has him wrapped around her fingers already.
"Oh my goodness Quanni, I have got to come by and see these beautiful babies,"
I stuck my chest out a little bit.
We did that.
I said thinking to myself.
"They look just like Rich." She smirked.
"I know, he made me mad enough while I was pregnant . I'm kinda jealous though. Deuce only has my eyes, and Bunni just has my color." I poked my lips out a bit while staring at the picture of my angels.
"Have you set a date yet?"
"January 8th."
"I know you're not gonna let this year end without becoming his wife. Quanni that's too long." She pointed her finger at me and gave me the eye.
"It's only three months away Ms. Rose, and that's our anniversary month anyway. Shoot we're getting married on his birthday." I laughed at her dramatic response to me. She was fanning herself like she was hot.
"Besides, the only reason we're having the wedding that soon is because he keeps throwing a fit about it."
"I would too if the love of my life and mother of my children was taking her time on receiving my last name. Girl, if you don't want him I'll take him. You can have Johnny." She joked and nudged my shoulder.
"Watch it Ms. Rose, I pointed my finger." She joined me in laughter.
She is such a character. I only met her a few short months ago when I moved and started school here, but she's made this transition journey so much easier for me. Her kinds words, jokes, and prayers got me through each day when I was carrying the twins.
After finishing my rounds I clocked out and drove straight home. I missed my babies... All of them.

"You hungry sweets?" Rich asked coming into the den with a plate and a bottle of water in his hands.
That was the furthest I'd gotten since I came in the door.
