I couldn't get her out of my mind. The girl I ran into. Her name, Holly, was buzzing through my mind. Who was she? I asked myself. Before I could answer that, I got to the office building. I walked through the door and took the left, heading towards my friend's office. As I walked down the hall, I noticed how quiet it seemed. Nearly all the doors were shut, though usually open. I got to Jake's door and saw it was cracked open. I readied myself for an attack. I slowly opened the door wider and when I did, caught a slight hint of an entoxicating smell. It smelled of rotten oranges mixed with death. I flipped the light switch. The winged boy with the black eyes from the mess hall was there. His black wings were spread out, reaching from one side of the office, to the other. He was looking down on Jake, who was bleeding from a wound in his chest and one on his neck. The kid looked up, his eyes staring right into mine. I saw the black, but also a very far off spot of white in each of his eyes. I did not move. He did not move. Jake made a sound. The boy looked down again and started muttering. Jake's eyes opened and they were a deep crimson color. He started growling and digging his nails into the carpeted floor and his wounds were healing. "What are you doing to him?" I yelled at the kid. I got my answer when Jake calmed. His eyes also went back to the color they were, brown. The kid folded his wings and ran past me and disappeared out the building. I looked at Jake. "Hey man. Uh, sorry you had to see that, and sorry about the smell. Someone, a wingless hybrid, i'm guessing, tried to kill me, as you could probably see. The kid saved my life, he changed me instead of letting the poison kill me. I feel amazing." I nodded along with his words. "You are aware you can't tell anyone but shifters, the winged, the vamps, the council, and other non-human peoples, right?" He looked up, surprised. "The council?" I nodded. "They're going to want to have a record for you, since you're a chnaged hybrid. So, you should tell them first, er, I will. You don't yet know how to." He just nodded as we started to clean his office. "How come you never seem to use your wings?" I jump at the question. "Well, I just don't like using them. How did you know I had wings, I never told you that." He looks up and smiles, "I can kinda see the outline of where they fold on your back." Hybrid thing probably, I thought. We went back to cleaning.
Three hours later, everything was back in order and the room smelled much better. We walked out and Jake locked the door after turnong out the light. "So where's everyone else?" I ask, gesturing towards the closed doors. He smiled at the question. "They ran once the creature entered the building. It was only after me, didn't even take a second glance at the others. I wonder why it was after me, did really even kill me." "Well," I say, "could have been because you pissed off the wrong immortal." I laughed, Jake joined. "Or, maybe I smelled good." He said. We joked around after deciding to eat. "Wonder if you can still eat normal food?" Jake looked at me, "I am a hybrid, dude, not a full blood vamp." I chuckle, "Some dogs can't eat human food." Jake glared at me for that one and hit my arm. Before I could react, he ran. He was fast, though, not as fast as I was. I let my wings out and flew past him. Startled by his own speed, Jake fell. I laughed and landed near him, stumbling in the process. It was his turn to laugh and I glared at him. "Come on or we're going to get stuck in a large crowd." Jake walked off. I followed him into a black building with inviting scents coming out of it.
