Evelyn

The day my life changed started out like any other. Nothing particularly stood out as I strolled down the woods near my small home in the small village I lived in. My curly brown hair fell loosely down my shoulders, towards the bottom of my rib cage. I was wearing my favorite navy blue dress and all was quiet, minus the sound of me humming quietly. Until I heard a twig snap near me.

My eyes darted up, scanning the area around me as I looked for the source of the noise. "Hello?" I called out, the sligh accent in my voice dripping with confusion. "Who's there?"

When no one answered me, I shook my head. It was probably nothing, I probaby just imagined the noise. I had nothing to worry about, it wasn't night or a full moon. I should be safe.

I suddenly jumped as I felt my head being pushed aside, my neck exposed completely now. I let out a scream as I felt someone biting down on it, closing my eyes in pain that began to shoot through my body.

Do something, idiot, I told myself. My eyes snapped open, and suddenly the person was pushed away from me, and I could hear their body hit a tree a few feet away. I fell onto the dirty floor, bringing my hand up to my neck and feeling the familiar feeling of warm blood. I looked at my now red hand, confusion, terror, and shock filling me as I realized that I had been bitten by someone.

I quickly scrambled to stand up, turning to face the person, my eyes wide. I watched silently as the boy stood up, staring right back at me with curiosity. I opened my mouth to speak, but he beat me to it.

"You're a witch," he said matter-of-factly. He didn't even try to apologize for biting me! The nerve of him!

I narrowed my eyes in return, placing my hands on my hips as I scowled at him. "Yes, I am. And you just ruined my favorite dress. Not to mention that you bit me! For Christ's sake, what is the matter with you?!" Yeah, I had a pretty small temper back then.

"Well, you seem to have quite the temper," he chuckled, making my fury grow even more. Next thing I know, he's on the ground, holding his head and screaming in pain. I gasp, realizing that I am the one causing it and quickly force myself to calm down. I sped over to him as the screams stopped, though he still held his head in his hands.

"I am so sorry!" I said quickly, kneeling next to him and grabbing his head in my hands. I lifted his head so he was looking at me, my eyes wide in worry. "Are you okay? Did I hurt you? Oh God, that's a stupid question. Of course I hurt you, or else you wouldn't have been screa-"

"I'm fine," he cut me off, an amused smile playing at the edge of his lips as I rambled on. My cheeks burned bright pink, and I looked down in embarrasment, mumbling a small 'right.' He looked at me as I put my hand down, still looking down and refusing to make eye contact with him. "What's your name?" he asked curiously.

I lifted my eyes up, giving him a small smile as I responded with, "Evelyn Emrys." It was silent for a second before I spoke again, "And you are?"

He gave me a smug kind of smirk, which instantly made my cheeks burn again. "Kol Mikaelson."

For the next few hours, until the sun went down, the two of us sat in the woods, just talking and laughing and a whole lot of blushing on my part. I forgot about our rather odd meeting, and I didn't find out why he had bitten me. At least, not that day.

And that was the day everything changed.

Kol

It was a few days after I had met Evelyn, the strange, beautiful and rather sassy witch. We had talked everyday ever since our first meeting, in the same spot, but she still didn't know about me and my family. And I intended to keep it that way, at least for a while longer.
