The Sectors were not safe anymore.
Of course, there were always places where it wasn't safe to wander, mostly the Dark Sector. The darker colors were always getting into trouble so hardly any of the other colors came into the Dark Sector. But these days there was something strange going on.
Colors were being drained.
This was a 'talent' that only the certain citizens of the Dark Sector were known for having, seen more like a curse to any other color. Many of the dark citizens resented the rest of the country who lived in some sort comfort due to the fact that they had the chance to move up the ranks in society and even have a chance at moving into the Rainbow Sector one day, something only the most brilliant, beautiful, or connected colors could do. Everyone but the residents of the Dark Sector, they didn't have the chance to move. So, some of them resorted to using the rare 'talent' that they were born with: draining another color and absorbing it into their systems. Such a thing was considered a crime, equal to skinning someone alive and wearing them over one's skin like a costume. No one survived draining.
Draining was happening more and more now. No longer only in the alleyways of the Dark Sector where unsuspecting colors would accidentally wander into. It was happening in the Light and Cool Sectors more often, a handful in the Warm Sector, and it was even rumored that a drainage had even happened in the Rainbow Sector; the safest place in the whole country.
All anyone knew was the talk that was going around, people said they were seeing shadows lurking around the Sectors. No matter how many times Silver, the current leader of the country of Paint, went on T.V. to reassure the community that it was just gang activity from the Dark Sector and that it was being dealt with.
It never seemed to stop anyone from continuing on with their normal lives, which probably wasn't the best idea.
