It had been a week of texting, late night five minute phone calls from parties and work, and lots of day dreaming. Zayn was all Blake made time to think about.
Even when she was at work.
Blake was almost done with her shift when he called. "Hey," she answered, Alex watching her.
"Hi, babe," his husky voice almost made her shudder. "What are you up to, tried calling you earlier but you didn't pick up."
"Yeah, sorry, I was at work," she murmured, turning away so she didn't have to awkwardly watch Alex stare at her.
"Oh," he mumbled, a hum releasing his lips. "Do you wanna do something tonight? I'll pick you up?"
Blake looked at her clock. "Yeah, sounds great. I'm off in twenty."
"Perfect, see you," he replied.
"Bye, Zayn," she quickly said before ending the call and turning back around.
"Hey, so-"
"You shouldn't be on the phone while working. It's really unprofessional. This job may be a joke to you, since you get everything handed to you, but some people have to take work seriously," Alex snapped, before carrying a load of bed sheets towards the back of the store.
Blake stood there stunned, unsure of what to do. Was this because Alex liked her? She thought. Or was she really an ungrateful person? Blake ignored Alex for the rest of their shift, before she saw Zayn's car headlights outside.
It was 10:49. She began closing the register and putting paperwork for tomorrow back into the small file compartment they had. Blake then grabbed her coat and purse and walked straight passed Alex, who was closing up tonight. She flushed as she walked outside, feeling embarrassed after thinking about Alex's rant.
Zayn watched her from the window, her eyes down on the ground and shoulders slouched. He wondered if she was okay.
"Hey, babe," he greeted when she opened the door, a gust of cold air coming in the car. She just slumped into her seat, sighing. It smelled like intense smoke and cologne, to which Blake began coughing uncontrollably.
Zayn quickly rolled the window down, hoping to air out the car. "Sorry, I had a smoke before coming... I tried to keep the window open long enough to air it out but it was so damn cold... Sorry." He suddenly felt insecure of his addiction, slight blush hinting his cheeks.
"Its fine," she said, clearing her throat. "Anyways, my car is parked here. So..." She trailed off, wondering what to do.
"Oh, well do you want to drop it off before we head out?" He asked nicely. He could tell she was tired.
"Yeah, let's just wait one minute," she muttered, shutting her eyes and leaning her head against his seat. With her right hand she opened her window, feeling a gust of wind hit her her. "It's so cold."
"Yeah," he murmured. "Maybe you should close the window, or put your coat on," but all she did was link their hands and open her eyes, smiling at him.
"Hey," she said quietly, small smile tugging her lips.
"Hey," he responded, glad her mood was shifting. Zayn leaned in and kissed her, causing Blake to absolutely melt. She had one hand against his warm neck and the other against his chest, holding the collar of his coat.
