The next morning I have a hangover. It sucks really bad. I take ibuprofen and just relax when I get home. Mom was happy I stayed the night there instead of driving home. She gave me a big hug when I walked through the door.
"Are you hungover?" she asked worriedly.
I looked at her stupidly and said, "Yes mom, if I stayed the night at the house I obviously was too drunk to drive."
At about 2 p.m. the doorbell rings. I answer it and see Chris standing at the door.
"Hey," I say startled, wondering how much of a mess I look. "What's up?"
"Nothing. Just wanted to see if you wanted to hang out. Maybe I could show you around?" he asks hopefully.
"Give me five minutes?"
"Sure. I can wait."
God, he's so cute. Why the hell did I kiss Angela? What was I thinking. I'm straight. Not bi. Not lesbian. Straight.
I straighten out my hair, brush my teeth, change my clothes, and go down to the front door where Chris is standing nonchalantly.
"Ready to go?" I ask as I shut the door behind me.
"Yep," he says grinning.
We just walk around enjoying the fun things there are to do there, which aren't many if I might add. Damn, I wish I lived in LA. Then I could go to sporting events and have a lot of other things to do that would occupy my time.
"So about the party the other night-" I begin to say, breaking the silence.
"Don't worry about it," he says, brushing it off.
"But-"
"No buts, I said it's fine," he says with a smile.
"I get obnoxious when I'm drunk," I smile sheepishly.
"Yeah, I kinda figured that out," he grins.
We walk around some more and decide to get a bite to eat. He pays of course, which I think is nice. I offer to pay obviously, but he insists he's got it. We sit at a table and I admire the palm trees around us. California is just amazing. I love it here. I notice Chris staring at me while I look around.
"What?"
"Nothing, just wondering what you're thinking about. Can I ask why you moved here?"
"It's a very long story," I say with a sigh. It has a lot of personal stuff involved that I usually don't tell anyone else.
"Do you wanna talk about it?" He asks as he puts a fry into his mouth.
I've only this guy for a day or so, but it feels like I've known him my whole life. There's just something about us that connects. I don't know what it is.
"Sure. You wanna go for a walk?" I ask, standing up.
"Sure," he smiles as he stands up with me and dumps his fries in the trash receptacle.
We walk along the roads, looking at the scenery. I feel his hand grab mine and I lock his fingers with mine. We walk in silence for a while.
"I moved here because I had a situation go down in Iowa," I say, finally breaking the silence.
"Oh?"
"Yeah. It's pretty messed up. Kinda like me."
"Nah."
"You don't think so?"
"No."
He looks at me and gets closer. I feel his breath on my face as his lips crash to mine. I pull him closer and closer as our kiss gets deeper. He's a really good kisser. It helps that he's cute too. He pulls apart and looks straight into my eyes. Damn, these feelings that this guy gives me.
"You're not a mess Raven."
"Why do you not think so? You barely know me."
"Maybe so, but I think you're amazing and I'd like to do this again with you. The whole date thing, I mean."
"Me too," I smile and kiss him again.
We walk for a a little longer, mostly just being quiet and enjoying the day. He takes me home after a little while, around 10:30 p.m. and kisses me goodbye. He gives me his number and I text him later asking when he wants to do this again.
