"It's okay. I couldn't sleep anyways."

Germany's P.O.V

I was dreaming about talking cats when I was jolted from sleep by a careful, quiet knock on my bedroom door. I contemplated ignoring it and going back to sleep. I finally decided that anything is better than talking cats.

Before I could answer, I heard footsteps padding away. I sighed, 'Well, there goes my chance. It must not have been very important.'

I rolled over and closed my eyes. 'More talking cats.' I sighed.

The Next Night

I groaned quietly as I was forcefully awakened from my nice and peaceful, dreamless sleep. I opened my eyes to try and figure out what woke me up.

I saw the slight shadow of feet underneath my door. I started to get up just as the feet moved away. I sped up and flung open the door, but whoever was there had disappeared. I frantically scanned the hallway, but there was no one there.

I stared at the wall opposite of me, puzzled. After a few seconds, I slowly closed my door. Then, I went over to my bed and sat down. I ran a hand through my hair a few times.

'Had I imagined the knocking and the feet?' I pondered. 'No, I couldn't have. I had been asleep. Then, I woke up... I couldn't have been imagining it.' I decided.

I flopped down with an exasperated sigh. 'Tomorrow, I will figure out who was at my door.'

The Next Night

I was completely set for the midnight visitor. I got ready for bed, but I sat at my desk instead. I checked the time quickly. 10:47 p.m. I guess I'll do some paperwork while I wait.' So, I did.

After an hour and 10 minutes of paperwork, there was a soft knock on my door. I jumped up and opened the door to see obviously surprised. He stood there in shock with his mouth open for a few seconds before mumbling an apology and turning to leave.

I quickly grabbed his hand and pulled him back to the doorway. "It's okay. I couldn't sleep anyways. What do you need?"

Italy shifted anxiously a second before whispering, "I've been having terrible nightmares the past few days and I wanted to know if I could sleep with you."

I thought about it for a moment before gesturing for Italy to follow me into my bedroom. After all, what are best friends for?
