*smack!*
I felt a slap on my cheek and something cold slid down my cheek I opened my eyes in surprise. I reached my hand up to my cheek and felt a pile of lotion spread across it.
"Cameron Alexander Dallas! You did not just do what I think you did!" I sat up quickly to see him bending over from laughter.
"I'm going to get you back" I got up to wipe my cheek off.
"Sleep with one eye open because it'll be when you least expect it." I pressed a towel to my cheek and wiped the slightly dried lotion off. Cam stood behind me still chuckling under his breath.
"Oooh! I'm so scared!"
"You better be!" I turned around so that he was right in front of me and my back was pressed against the bathroom counter.
"So, what's the plan for today?" I asked.
"Actually, I know I said we'd hang out today but Mckenzie's insisting that I take her out today and you know how she gets." My face fell and I stepped away from him. Making my way out of the bathroom, I slumped down onto my bed heavily. I heard Cam's footsteps follow me out and felt the impression he made next to me.
"You're mad I know, but it's just today. We can do something tomorrow?" My fists clenched a little and peeked up at him.
"Yeah, whatever." My arms circled my head in an attempt to block him out. Cam reached a hand down to my back comfortingly. I moved back a fraction but removed my arms from around me.
"It's pretty hard being best friends with you Cameron. I feel like I'm putting in all the effort." I only called him by his full name when I was angry and he knew it. His head sunk in shame when I started up again.
"You always ditch me for Mckenzie. I'm sick of it!"
"but she's my girlfriend, y/n!"
"And I'm your best friend. I've known you my entire life. You've known her for barely a month!" I reluctantly picked myself up off the bed and trudged downstairs to make Breakfast. I opened the fridge and grabbed the eggs. When I closed it, Cam stood right there.
"I can't believe you're making me choose." I counted out 4 eggs and cracked them into a frying pan.
"I'm not, okay? I just don't like it." I didn't turn away from the eggs once. I grabbed some salt and milk and added both to the pan.
"I can't stand it when you're mad at me, but I'm not cancelling on Mckenzie." I stayed silent and just continued with the eggs. Finally when they were done, I scooped them onto two plates and brought them to the table. Cam sat down in front of one plate and began to shovel them down. I brought mine closer to me and went to take a bite. I couldn't make myself eat it though, I almost immediately put the fork down.
"You can cancel on me but not her? What a great friend you are." I picked up my plate angrily and said,
"I'm going to eat in my room but hey have fun on your date." I was furious. Cameron could just be so unbelievable sometimes.
-Later that Day-
I had to admit that I had probably overreacted earlier. It just made me so mad that Cam seemed so oblivious to the fact that I was in love with him. It's not like I hadn't hinted at it. He was just too dead set on Mckenzie.
I heard a soft knock on the door and quickly paused my tv.
"Y/n, I'm really sorry about earlier. I admit it was wrong to ditch you like that." I smiled a little.
"Me too. I overreacted at you. So what do you want to do with the rest of the day?"
"Y/n, I have my date with Mckenzie." I groaned loudly at my stupidity. Of course he hadn't actually cancelled.
"Seriously?! You know what? I don't even care anymore. Just go!"
"Y/n, I-"
"Don't. Just leave already." With one last look, he turned around and walked back out the door. I got up and tripped over to the window just in time to see him drive away. God, he made me so mad.
-11pm later that night.-
I was laying down on the couch just about to fall asleep when I heard the door squeak open. I sat up curiously to see Cam standing there silently.
"I'm so sorry. I must have seemed like the biggest jerk to you." I stood up slowly and trudged over to Cam. As I got closer to him, I could see a dampness across his cheeks.
"Cam what happened? Are you alright?"
"I'm so oblivious." He wrapped his arms around my waist and buried his head in my hair. My hands held onto his back firmly.
"I can't believe I didn't see this coming. I must be the stupidest guy on earth."
"Cam, what are you talking about?" His grip on me tightened and I felt his tears falling lightly on my shoulder.
"She cheated on me. Then she told me how she didn't even really like me in the first place. She just thought I would buy her expensive things." His breath caught in his throat and I could hear the pain in his voice.
"I chose her over you. Someone who actually cares about me. I'm so sorry." He held me back away from him and looked into my eyes. His gaze lowered slightly and quickly met mine again. He licked his lips slowly before bringing his face closer to mine. His lips darted forward and attached to mine passionately. My hands reached up and my fingers tangled themselves in his hair. Our lips moved together as his hands slowly crept up to cup my cheeks. I felt woozy and a tingling in my stomach started. He pulled away suddenly and rested his forehead against mine.
"ever since she broke up with me an hour ago, the only thing that's been on my mind is you. I don't know how I didn't see this before. Y/n, I think I'm I love with you." My mouth dropped open and I pulled back as a reflex.
"Oh. Did I just ruin or friendship?" I shook my head softly and leaned into him. My head rested against his chest.
"I feel exactly the same way Cam."
"If that's the case, y/n, will you be my girlfriend?" I could sense the grin that spread across his face.
"I know it's a little soon, but I don't want to wait another lifetime."
"Of course I will!" I smiled up at him.
The rest of the night we stayed up watching movies and cuddling. I crept up on Cam silently. My hand was full of lotion, and I raised my hand. I brought my hand down onto his cheek pretty hard and he sprang up faster than a race car. "Y/n!" "I said I'd get you back when You least expected it!" Cam chased me around the house until finally he caught me right by the couch. He landed on top of me and we were only inches apart. I think you can guess what happened next ;) Although today started off badly, by the end of the night, I couldn't have been happier.
