The elite let go of the grenade and Johnathon went numb. He couldn't think, he couldn't move, he couldn't do anything. He could only see and barely hear what was going on around him. In that exact instance he saw the elite, he saw a Pelican fly over head, and he saw the other Pelican trying to destroy the other Phantom. He heard battlerifle shots ring out through the valley, he heard the screeching engine of the Phantom, he heard the turret from the Pelican firing at the Phantom, and he heard the elite screaming what he thought was the equivalent to human cuss words.

Just then he saw a spartan drop out of the overhead Pelican. The spartan got stuck by the grenade on the way down. The next thing he saw was a brilliant flash of light and he thought that the spartan was surely dead. Yeah they have shields, yeah they have bio-foam injectors, yeah they have fancy armor but even that had to kill him. He was in shock when he realized the spartan hadn't died. The spartan was on the ground so maybe... nope. He got up and charged the elite. Now the elite was firing crazily with his plasma rifle. The spartan either got lucky and didn't get hit or he dodged plasma, either way it didn't matter. The spartan then stuck his knife in the elites chest and twisted. The elite was on a rampage now, he broke free form the Sparta's grip with the knife still in his chest. Purple blood oozed out of the wound as he tried to reach for his energy sword. He just barely got it out when the spartan shot him in the head three times with his magnum.

The spartan came over and helped Johnathon up.

"Are you alright" he asked

"I.. I.. I'm fine" "What about you"

"We'll talk later, we have to get you back to base, Halsey says your pretty important to her."

What on earth would Halsey want with me.

"Do you have an extra weapon by chance, I kinda lost mine."

The spartan handed him a shotgun and a magnum.

He said "Do you see that pelican" "On my mark, I want you to run as fast as you can to it and get in, don't stop for anything, including me. Just shoot anything that gets in the way."

"Yes sir."

"On my mark" "GO!"

Johnathon took off sprinting towards the pelican. He had about 150 yards to go. An overhead phantom stopped 10 yards in front of him to let troops out. He counted four grunts and an elite. He lobbed a grenade and took care of two grunts. He switched to the pistol and fired three shots. The other two grunts were taken care of. Now he just had the elite. He switched back to his shotgun and sprinted even faster. The elite was firing a fuel rod cannon. Johnathon had to jump and dive but he didn't get hit. The elite was reloading just as Johnathon shot him in the face. All good. He just had about 20 more yards to cover. He sprinted for his life. In about ten seconds he made it and dove in. There were a few marines and a pilot but that was it. He turned around to try and find the spartan. He saw him running and he was blown away. Even for a spartan, 30 kilometers per hour was pretty fast.
