So the question was, tell him or be silent?
I decided the latter. Or at least tried the latter.
Taking in a shaky breath I began my denials.
"I'm fine, I promise."
Obviously he didn't believe it. No that I could look at him though. Wait this is horrible, I'm an actress I lie all the time. It must be this body and teenage brain. Curse you teen me.
So to look like I was being honest, I looked into his eyes.
That was a big mistake.
Like i had said, he towered over me. But now he had an intense look in his blue eyes and his brow was furrowed. My gaze slipped a little to the right but immediately looked back.
" I don't believe you, Lace. You're acting strange. Or at least more than usual."
Why was it so hard to lie to him. To a guy I barely knew this should've been east, the why-
"Look I'm telling you I'm fine. I just haven't gotten enough sleep, okay? Now if you'll excuse me."
Ducking under his arm which hand been leaned up against the wall next to my head, I headed for the stage recalling I was still a student and would have needed to get my, most likely, heavy backpack. recalling the way to the stage from my memories I briskly tarted walking down the hall. Walking as fast as I could. But he had longer longs and easily caught up to me.
Silently walking by my side, we made our to the auditorium. Opening the soon doors I walked into a dark room.
" where did everyone go?" I asked, my voice carrying into the silent darkness.
"well its 5:30, so everyone is home." Jace answered.
" oh. Um, do you perhaps know where my backpack is?"
" what do I look like, your mom?"
" yes, you look exactly like her" which was a lie, had red brown hair and very light shade of blue for her eye color. Not to mention she was a women.
Shuffling in the dark room I searched for the bag. Now that I mention it. What did my bag look like?
I cautiously mad my way my hands searching for anything, like a wall or a curtain, I don't know. Four steps in I went tumbling down something.
Sitting up I looked up to where Jace was.
" I'm assuming those were stares?"
" you're correct. Here I'm coming down, sorry of I step on you?"
He made his way down the stares slot, unlike i, who hadn't even knew they were there. In a hushed tone he called out m name. By then he was a little to my right so I decided to freak him out and grab his leg. Shooting out I grabbed his ankle....and he tripped. Uh oh.
" I didn't do it." I lied.
And then came a big roaring laugh from him. I looked over at him concerned that he maybe had hit his head or something. Crawling over in that general direction I asked if he was okay. But he just kept laughing.
" Seriously? Are you okay or not?" I demanded, trying to use an authorities voice but it came out more girlish than ever. God, I hate puberty.
" oh I'm good. Are you okay?" he belted in between laughs. Wacko.
" perfectly fine. Now help me find my backpack." I told him, or at least that general direction.
" okay but I think I know something that I'll help." he got up and jogged somewhere. Not with ought running into something and shouting one thing that sounded relatively close to mommy. Then a sudden burst of light turned.
" and god said " let thereby light!"" and you winder why I worry about this child.
