I woke up, surrounded by people. Strangers for all I knew. I looked at my surroundings with a confused look on my face. A crater? Why on earth was I in a crater? Seconds later I could hear a sharp ringing in my ears. Then it hit me, I hadn't heard a single word the strangers where saying although I could clearly see their mouths moving. I could now hear the very faint voices, as if they where from far away. "Are you ok miss?" I look up, shocked and mumbled "E... Excuse me?" I struggled to get up only to be pushed back into a laying position. "Miss, you need to stay still. Now can you tell me your name?" I frowned "My name?" I think for a moment and then look the stranger in the eyes "I don't think I have one" the stranger rubs his forehead and sighs. The man signals to the others to lift me up and put me in the back of an ambulance. Ambulance? How do I even know what that is?
After what felt like forever I was being put down on an extremely uncomfortable bed. I squirmed and tried to get up but was once again forced to lay down. Many strange men and women looked at me with concerned faces. An older looking lady with clearly visible grey hair was the first to speak. "Do you feel any pain miss..." She stopped and looked at the same man as before. He looks at me and says "she has no memory of her name." The lady sighs and scratches her head "Shall we give her a name just until this... Amnesia... Or whatever it is wears off?" A few of the people nodded others just stood there. "Amari" I look around and see that people heard me. The lady looked shocked. "Amari?" I nod and she adjusts her glasses "where on earth did you think of that?" I look around and look confused "the voice... Didn't you hear it?" They all look confused and a hum of questions start. I blush "I... I guess it was just a voice in my head..." The lady smiles and writes on a piece of paper. "Amari it is then. Now... Tell me, Amari, are you in any pain?" I shake my head. "Do you remember anything?" I shake my head again. "You don't even remember why you have those... Things..." I squint and sit up, they let me this time and I look for a reflective surface. There was a mirror across the room which I can finally see now. It is a large room, benches line every wall with posters of all kinds of things. I look in the mirror and stand up to get a closer look. I twist around and on my back I see feathery wings, about the size of a watermelon. I loom at them for a while and turn around to look at all the people. There was much less than I originally thought, only about 7 people in the room. I look at them and the man who had asked my name at first smiled and motions for me to follow him.
I follow him out of the room and he stops outside the doorway. He looks at me and says "we have never seen anything like you before..." He pauses and looks me in the eyes to see how I react. I don't react in anyway and he continues "and I want to make sure you don't get harmed in any way so we can see what you are" I nod and he smiles. "I am Dr. Thorn, but call me Jakson. You will be staying at my place until you are settled and know what you need to know to survive." I smile and he grabs me by the hand and leads me outside to his car.
