I laid there floating in the pitch black darkness. "What is this place?" I said to myself. All of a sudden, all of the bad memories from my past came rushing back into my head causing me to relive all of them. I suddenly remembered sitting on my bed. I was living in Hinansho at the time. Me and my family lived in a well kept home. The outside walls were white, there was a large red door in the front, and there was a large window liking out onto the tiled streets of Hinansho. My room's walls were also white with a window towards the upper left corner of my room. The floors were wooden and polished. I had a wooden nightstand next to my bed and a slide open closet on the wall right of me. I heard a knock at the front door. I heard a deep voice. I couldn't really understand what the voice was saying because I was behind a closed door. After a few minutes, the voice stopped and the front door closed. My mother soon came into my room. She wore a white kimono with a flower pattern on it. She had her hair in a ponytail that was held together by a pin. "Eichi..." my mother said in a soft and cracking voice. "What's wrong," I asked nervously. "It's your father." She said as she began to cry. I automatically knew what happened. "He was KIA," she said as he walked over to my bed and sat down next to me. "He's being buried tomorrow."She said as she hugged me sobbing. I tried to hold back my tears but I began to cry to. There was suddenly a white flash. I was suddenly in Hinansho's military barracks receiving a speech from general taisho. I stood with the other soldiers. I was the only elemental among Hinanso's soldiers. "Today is the day that we beat Yami no Maebure. For too long have we lived in fear of this monster." Yelled the general. He wore the traditional hiyabusa armor. He had held his helmet to his side. He then asked for me to stand next to him. "This man will insure our victory." the crowd yelled in excitement. I was slightly nervous. I didn't like to be the center of attention but I smiled to mask the fact that I was afraid. I had heard during the briefing that Yami no Maebure would be a force enemy. After the men had finished their cheering, the massive door enclosing the barracks opened. As soon as the soldiers spotted the enemy they charged at them with everything they had. I followed them into battle but I wasn't prepared for what was to come. The two army collided. We noticed instantly that what we were fighting wasn't human. When one was killed the turned into a black mist that Dissipated. the next thing I heard were explosions. When I looked off into the distance I saw black flames crashing into the earth killing several soldiers. I fought my way towards the center of the army and above me was the man that matched the description of Yami no Maebure that I saw during briefing. When I went in for the attack, before I could react I was knocked back by a massive wave of darkness. The wave was so large that it destroyed a third of our regiment. The impact was so powerful that I lost consciousness. When I reopened my eyes, I realized that I was in a nightmare. We were no match for him.
"Stop it!" I yelled as I held my eyes shut trying to forget everything.
All my pain and failures were being thrown back into my face. When I uncovered my eyes, I was standing in a forest of dead trees. There was a dark mist that began to creep on me.
"Why bother, I'm just a burden to everyone anyways."
I sat there and did nothing to try and escape.
"Everyone would be better off if I died."
"Idiot!" I heard a familiar voice scream as I was punched in the face.
My face hit the dirt.
"And exactly what the hell do you think you'll accomplish by dying." I heard from a woman's voice.
When I when I sat back up I saw black figured standing around me.
"I will no longer be an obstruction to other." I said sadly.
"That will do more harm than good." said a young boys voice.
"You can't die, too many people would miss you." Said the familiar voice again.
I became angry.
"No one would miss the screw up that can't protect anyone!" I yelled.
"How about your mother, how about your brother, how about all the people that you've helped along the way."
The darkness began to clear and as I looked around I began to see familiar faces. I saw Aiko, Aire, Akifumi, my brother, my mother, and the one that was directly in front of me was Eito with that same smile on his face.
"You've helped us all." said my brother.
"That's, why you can't give up." said my mother.
The darkness began to swallow us but as so as it reached us a wave of light dashed across the dead forrest. The light was so bright that I covered my eyes. When I opened them, they all stood at my side making a path in front of me. At the edge of the path was Eito. I stood up and noticed that the forrest came back to life. There was bright green grass and several beautiful trees.
"You must keep moving forward." said my mother.
"And fight on." said my brother.
I walked to the edge of the path.
"Let's finish this." said Eito.
I nodded my head. they disappeared along with the forrest. the once dark abyss became light and the blue aura that surrounded before had returned but for some reason it felt even stronger. My sword appeared I'm my hand. at that moment I knew what I had to do. I lifted my blade and with one strike I shattered the dark abyss. When I emerged, I saw my brother collapsed.
